Little circles on Sat Nav Screen

Hi.

 

I have just taken delivery of my Yaris Cross and used the SatNav for the firsat time yesterday. I noticed that the road I am driving down (and for a small section of any turnings off the road) shows a series of small white circles. Does anyone know what these are for? I've looked in the handbook but cannot find any reference to them.

Just curious as I've not had them on any other SatNavs I have used.

perhaps its a new UK specific mode that now shows live updates on POT HOLES so you can avoid them.

I think they are called something like 'map trace'.

On the map screen, if you tap the 3 lines on the right hand side, you have some settings. You can turn them off in there.
Don't know exactly where, but it's in there somewhere.
