CHR PHEV annoying steering wheel control buttons

Recommended Posts

I have found something new to moan about. The volume control positioned just below the Settings control on the left hand side of the steering wheel is incredibly annoying why ? it should have some indicators such as arrows to tell you what to do with that silly button. The Settings button seems to have that but not the volume why ?  Also its in entirely the wrong place and should be below the voice activation control not above it in my humble opinion.

I am certain I will find something else to whinge about but so far my CHR 2L PHEV hybrid is near perfect. apart from those silly refuelling flaps which both spring open when you  press the in car control button. I suggest Toyota just incorporate a lock so that when the flap is pressed it opens otherwise the flap stays closed.   The petrol refuelling flap springing open when you just want to charge the CHR only is a pain.

It seems quite intuitive to me - push up to increase the volume, push down to decrease the volume.

Now i have fixed/repaired a variety of IT and audio equipment in the past and have never see a small black oblong button masquerading as a volume control in anything. I find it not only akward to use but in my opinion dangerous. Its very small and its positioning make it fiddly to push up or down and its that action that for a split second my attention has been diverted from looking straight ahead when i have been driving. It simply should not be there and the voice control which is simpler to operate should be used in its place. The first time i got into my CHR i assumed it was a sound mute button until the dealer pointed out it was a push up or down volume control and i thought he was joking. Rant now over 😔
