*COUGH COUGH* powerflow *COUGH COUGH*

either that or i know x-racing do some bits like that might be worth giving andrew a pm or something to see if they can get anything like that in?!?

Matt

will powerflow build you the top mainifold then?

:drool::drool:

well i am only assuming as they do full systems so i guess by defintion that that would include manifold so therefore i cant see why they cant make a custom one for you. I want to get powerflow to make me the rest of the system to my backbox soon too, but then the issue of keeping the cat becomes a bugger.

powerflow should do a manifold, they were gonna do me on but i couldnt afford it at the time.

Soz computer went funny....

...as i was saying so when you thinking of getting it done tim as i cant wait to see it (although thatll mean i have trouble keeping with you) i still want to see it!!!

I think i need a new engine that or a supra

matt, get a bolt on turbo kit and then strip the seo out. its the way forward

I want a bolt on turbo but they cost over £1000.

Hang on call me stupid but the starlet turbo....would the manifold, turbo and bits bolt straight onto the seo?

If so how much would they be from a scrapers and what sort of gain would i get.

I was thinking about stripping it but am trying to keep it kinda comfy in there are peeps are alway needing lifts to the shops!!! cheaky buggers they are.

Soz tim didnt mean to hi-jack your thread, dont hate me

Tim - hold off on the exhaust manifold. I should have an original jap style manifold and am going to copy that. There is quite a bit of science in an exhaust manifold and pretty much every "knock up a stainless exhaust" shop haven't got a clue.

Matt - The Starlet turbo running gear is very similar to that of the Sera / Paseo. The ECU wiring is the main issue, it depends on how many plugs your ECU has as you need the Starlet ECU. This is what I did with my Sera. 135bhp as standard. More if you want it... How does 400bhp + sound?

Posted

400+bhp :drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool:

So if i bolt on a starlet turbo and assuming that there arent many probs i can get 135bhp straight away and could boost it all the way up to 400bhp?? is that what your saying..........?

Posted

sounds a bit extreme. don't think it'll work on my rolla tho.

Posted

I would use the Starlet turbo engine, otherwise you have to start opening your engine.

Standard Starlet Turbo - 135bhp

Hybrid turbo, front mount intercooler, induction kit, uprated fuel pump, boost controller, FCD or programmable ECU, better exhaust manifold and decat exhaust - around 200bhp

Above - bigger turbo, forged pistons, custom rods, reprofiled cams, programmable ECU - over 200bhp

Ultimately you can create a Starlet/Paseo engine hybrid to get the extra 200cc's. There are a number of Starlets in Japan with over 450bhp, but these engines would be a drag race engine and not so good for a road car.

its a shame the rolla wouldnt take a starlet turbo, would be cool as.

Ever since ive been interested in cars having a turbo has been a major apiration........so would it bugger my insurance as im with liverpool vic and they say no engine mods although some peeps have said by that they mean conversions as i really want a turbo now!!!!!

Why not. What type engine does your Corolla have?

The E-series of engines are as follows:

4E-FE - 1300 normally aspirated engine. Found in Starlets and some Corollas

5E-FE - 1500 normally aspirated engines. Found mainly in Paseos

5E-FHE - high compression version of the Paseo engine. Found in Japanese spec Cynos and all Seras. 110bhp

4E-FTE - Starlet Turbo engine, 1300cc turbo. 135bhp.

Because the basic engine architecture is the same, same engine mounts etc., the engines can be swapped fairly easily.

hmmmmm..... ok maybe i wont as i will definatly be unisurable....maybe just keep the engine stock(ish) do the exterior, sell it buy supra?!?

:D I wish.......and i do..... :D

Posted

i got the 4a-fe. found a site which does a tubby bolt on kit but its 2k or so.not sure i wanna spend that kinda money, would apparently give me 180bhp, which i think is a bit ambitious

ive seen a bolt on paseo turbo, intercooler the lot for £1650 and will take it from 95bhp to 163bhp apparently!!!

Posted

those figures are always so over rated tho

Posted

true but those figures would be so nice.....but for that money a supra just seems the more sensible option.

unfortunatly....how about a nice uk spec manual 3ltr twin turbo.......hens teeth or wat?!!

Posted

would be nice. my plan is mr2 at 19 and then supra at 23/24

Posted

how old are you if you dont mind me asking??

Im 19 and am paying £1560 FC on my paseo inc all mods.

Thought about a 1.6 MR2 but then the whole issue of practicality came into view as me and the gf always seem to do trips places.

You've got me thinking now as a MR2 does seem a nice option especially after getting to know a chap in ipswich that has an erebuni (veilside rep) kit on it and 18 inch chrome wheels it looks nuts!!!!

Tim knows the one!!! :D

Posted

i'm 18. should get a goodenough deal methinks. i dont need the practicality. will be taking it to uni and that way wont be able to give loadsa lifts

was offered a rage painted, veilside kitted mr2 for 6k a while back, shame insurance wouldve been too expensive as it was really good car for the money

If you've got an A series engine, then you could fit the 4A-GE 20v black top from a Japanese spec Corolla. Normally Aspirated and around 165bhp.

Alternatively there is the 4A-GZE supercharged engine.

SWEET!!!! might think about MR2's if i get rid of the paseo because by then ill have a few years no-claims and impoerted versions might not be so uninsurable although i love liverpool vic's policy, uk car, no engine mods, any bodykit etc all insured same price! sorted!

Im at uni at the min and people still dont get the hint that the paseo can not fit 5 6ft people in!!!!!

lol. not that there has been that many in my paseo.........

I love bing the driver, more leg room!!!!! :D
