Ticking/Clicking brake pedal

I've recently noticed the brake pedal ticking/clicking when I come to a full stop. It seems to be worse after an emergency-type stop (I had to slam on the brakes on a narrow dusty country lane and ABS came on) but occasionally when I'm driving around town and come to a stop, the brake pedal clicks underfoot. 

Is this something others have experienced? It doesn't affect braking performance but is a bit disconcerting...
