I've just bought a 2012 Auris T Spirit hybrid and want to have DAB radio (plus I don't listen to CDs). Is it possible to have the existing entertainment system taken out and a more modern one put in, that has DAB?

Yes you can. 
Check Halfords has different options. They also offer wire harnesses to match your car.
