Hello everybody.
I`am the happy owner of a 2001 Yaris mk1 1.0L 1SZ-FE engine ( still assembled in Japan ). It's the ideal car for the city. I prefer it to my diesel Focus. I bought it second hand, with relatively few kilometers. Unfortunately the previous owner had treated it poorly, but little by little I`m correcting the problems. The only defect I find in my car is the lack of air conditioning. I would like to install it. I can buy the parts at the junkyard and I think these cars already have the engine bay ready to install the system. My problem is that I can't find the reference of the parts that I should install, because if the assembly is Japanese, the parts are different from the European ones. Can anyone give me a list of these parts? (compressor, condenser, etc...)
Thanks

It is 3 times cheaper and easier to sell it and buy the same car, but with AC. It is not the recommendation, just the opinion.

not worth the hassle the dash has to come out fully as the heater box is different let alone all the pipe work and electrical that needs to be done

there was a dealer fit option but I doubt you will find one - LHD 88300-0D020 or 88300-0D030 (edit. found some prices 2200-2600 euro)

Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately in my country cars are very expensive, especially Toyotas, and it is normal to see Yaris XP10 with many kilometers (+150,000 miles) being sold for more than 2,500 euros. And all with questionable maintenance. Last week someone I know sold one with 311,000 km/194,000 miles, for 1,500 euros!!! It's crazy to ask a price like that for a 25 year old small car. I was lucky and bought mine last year for 1,700 euros and it had relatively few kilometers: 165,000 km/102,000 miles, but I still spent a lot of money to keep it in good condition. However, it is the basic version: it does not have ABS, it does not have tinted windows, it has a radio cassette, it does not have an electric lock with key control, the seats are low quality, i doesn´t have alloy wheels and  the rear seat has no headrest, etc... The Yaris don't have many electronic, they are small and young people love them. So, to buy a Yaris with air conditioning and these kilometers (which are very difficult to find) I would have to sell mine and certainly spend more money than the cost of installing the air conditioning.

As explained above, the investment is worth it. I'm not afraid of the installation work. I have already disassembled and reassembled some cars. As for the air conditioning kit you mentioned, it also existed in Portugal, but now they no longer sell it. I want to buy the parts at the junkyard. And good deals are often made there. For example, today I bought the Sol model seats in very good condition, for 80 euros. I bought an external rubber for the front glass, in excellent condition, for 5 euros. Toyota wanted 35 euros for the rubber. So I think I can buy all the air conditioning parts for 150 euros.
The information in the link you provide is very valuable. In principle it was what I needed, however some other information is missing, such as the compressor reference. There are some videos of a Portuguese  installing the air conditioning, but they are not detailed. But it didn't seem like a very difficult operation. I'll analyze it and then if I have any questions I'll ask, ok?

No, it is not crazy. Toyota is very reliable brand so the price worth it. I bought mine (Sol, with AC, ABS, rear disc brakes and power windows) for $1600 with 165,000km and it's VERY cheap  (my Honda motorcycle from 1993 costs ~$2500). And, before that, when I was still living in another country, I bought a fiat bravo for $7000 with a mileage of 185,000km - that was a real absurdity for that piece of junk. Or when i was in Canada - they were asking 7000CAD($5200) for a dead rusty Corolla(2008), which in the EU cost 2500 each..

if you have a garage, tools and the desire to spend a week(or few) on this work with AC, then of course you should do it... but even if I had it, I would add some 200-300 dollars and buy a richer set(Luna/Sol), or even bring it to myself from another country.
