Hello.

just joined this forum after getting my 2024 Corolla!

Now, my wife is fuming because we cannot get the song and performer info on the audio display.

There is the start of this info, about 4 letters, then 3 dots.

On the old Corolla there was a scroll button to show the whole info.

I have asked the Dealership to help on this, but I don’t think they can help.

So my high tech, £30000 plus new car can’t do what my £40 home DAB does??

Your thoughts of advice please

Yes noticed the same when I took delivery of my new 2ltr GR Sport hatch in October 23. Previously I have owned Mazda 3's and Honda Civics and they displayed the full information, also my radio loses the signal depending where I am in the country. On a Plus side my 2ltr GR Sport drives better than the Mazda's and Honda's. 👍

New car’s owners problems 😅

Have you read the manual , maybe there is some information on there, or perhaps new cars does come without manual too?
Before when we bought iPhones they came with headphones and chargers, now only with a cable, soon probably not even that 👌

Does it really not show it on the infotainment display?!

It does on mine, and mine has the old system!!

Have a look at this recent topic, it might be relevant. I, too, couldn't believe that the newer system depends on online services to deliver such basic OTA information that's already embedded in the broadcast, but it seems that might be the case:

Ugh Gracenote, may those thieving :censored: rot in silicon hell!

I really don't get why the system doesn't just use the data that's part of the broadcast stream instead of getting it from a thieving proprietary company!

In what way are they thieving?

FWIW I have the Gracenote system in my car too, and since using it I'm not aware of them having stolen anything from me! 😬

I could go so far as to say my life has been enriched, by the beautiful album covers and song info they bring to my infotainment unit, even when listening to FM radio.

However, it's true they can rather ruin my fun whilst playing along with to 10 to the Top when the band name and song title is displayed in my screen during a song question. 😆

It's a long story now, but the abridged version is basically they stole the original open public CD database and blocked anyone from accessing it unless they purchased a license, without seeking permission or offering compensation to the people that put in the data, and threatened anyone using the old database with legal action.

Interesting. Thanks.

Seems the truth might be a little more nuanced ...
