Aygo MK2 - X Trend - Automatic Aircon Disable?

Hello all. My dad is complaining that every time he gets in his 2021 Aygo X Trend, the air-con automatically turns on and you have to turn it off each time (it's the push-button setup, not the knobs). I've had a look on the forums but can't get a solid answer as some people are quite vague so please don't direct me to other posts, please answer here, thank you!

Is it not covered in the full owners manual?

Perhaps he has selected the windshield demise function and the ac comes on automatically if this is selected , bottom left on the panel. You can use the system in auto mode without or without ac.
