Hey all, first post. I have just taken ownership of a new GRS, and looking at the website, it appeared to indicate it came with puddle lights - however, i have been unable to see these working, nor see any settings to state they exist. Anyone else in the UK had this car this last 3-4months and noticed them?

I was on a 2021 dynamic premium and just swapped to the GRS.

The puddle lights on the 2021 were so dim I could barely see them unless it was pitch black. They should come on as you approach the car with the fob and it's very dark. Very dark.

Not looked on the GRS yet but I suspect they'll be like the 2021 (weak and only come on in the very dark), or, they've been replaced by the side pan View cameras in the wing mirrors at the base.

I realise that I have a C-HR, but my observations are the same as Nicks. They are so dim, that it has to be totally dark to see them - I can not actually see, (no pun intended), the point of having them.

Wonder if the lights can be swapped for ultra bright LEDs. Just thinking I swapped the reverse light on my 2021 because it was so weak. Same with the boot light.

As others have said, they aren't that bright. But they should be easy enough to spot - they are positioned on the underside of the door mirrors. If you have PVM, you should find the camera; if you have puddle lights, you should find the lamp lens; and, obviously, potentially both or neither!

On my ‘21 PHEV I swapped the puddle lights for brighter LED’s at the same time as I changed the wing mirror repeater turn lights for sequential ones. The new Puddle lights can be seen and are significantly better as were the reversing lights when I changed them.

Thanks all, just gave it a look when approaching with the fob, and yep, there they were at the underside of the wing mirror - extremely dim! 😂

As said by dannyboy, kinda seems a little pointless.

may need to look in to upgrading the bulb.

That's useful brightness Ernie.

Though I just checked and the GRS puddle lights are brighter than on the 2021 but still very dim.

They look way better even in daylight 👍

I know you have posted bulb details before as I used your list to sort rear indicator and reverse replacements, but I can’t find it now so could you please repost it - many thanks.

Now toying with the sequential side repeaters so may as well do the puddle lights at the same time.

Cheers.

I think this is what you want?

The question of changing bulbs to LED’s has surfaced a few times so I’ve posted a separate thread.

I used the same bulbs for the vanity, curtesy lights,

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B085DMDTPF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

the boot light, I original used the ones above but then changed to a more powerful version,

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09C8C3JQG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

the rear seat bulb is a festoon I used this version, it was a pain to take out the old one and I had to use plastic tweezers which I also used to fit the new, I had to bend the contacts slightly, not sure it it should have been a different size but I know I’d pushed them out of place,

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07NJNQCBN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

the LED internals are bight so you have to decide if you want that. I wanted a good level of light so I’m very happy with the results.

Wing Mirror repeater lights and puddle lights.

Reversing Lights,

The reversing bulb change is an easy one.  On the boot lid are two square panels these can bereleased and inside is a white/grey holder with the cables in a small clip. A turn of the holder and the cable extended out of the clip and the old push in bulb is ready to be changed. Interestingly one of mine just fell out never connected. This is what I used, it's W16W LED. No flicker or errors as far as I can see.

Cheers for that Ernie,

Would you happen to have a link to the actual sequential indicators.

I found these ones which seem to be middle of the road cost wise, but would sooner opt for yours, as tried and tested 👍

Thanks again.

this is what I bought, the dark lens which I felt matched the car better.

There are a few YouTube videos that show how to do the job.

Yep, changed them for led about 3 years back.

Bit tricky but worth it.
