Prius Prime PHEV "whines"

Hello. We owned a 2007 Prius until we purchased a used 2017 Prius Prime PHEV two days ago. We just noticed that it whines when accelerating from a stop  is this normal for a PHEV? Thank you for any info you can provide.

I suspect it's normal - Every vehicle with an electric motor I've been in has a faint whine from the electric motor that you can hear when it's quiet (e.g. at low speed); Even my Yaris does. That's assuming that is the whine you are talking about and not a different one!
