Mine has the same map version as yours so I don’t suppose it’s worth updating it.

So, a supplementary question to you Ralph would be, when did you take delivery of your car? Or in other words, did yours update OTA or was it already up to date when delivered?

Got my car 2nd week in July.
If I click map update on the screen it comes up with the update error others have mentioned, so I don’t think it’s updated OTA.

Ditto my map version, built in August delivered in September.

So, I think it is safe to assume that both of your cars came with the latest maps already.

Also worth a mention is that I don't like the way that the car treats USB drives. It never closes them down gracefully even when the car actually goes "off". If you take the drive and plug it into a PC or laptop, the machine complains of errors on the drive that need to be fixed every time! (even though the files are fine after a scan/repair).

Naughty, naughty Toyota!!

You’re not filling me with confidence. It reminds me of the problems I had trying to update the navigation on my mk3 managed it eventually but it put me off doing it again.

I think I’ll stick with using CarPlay.

One of the reasons that I usually revert to Android Auto is because the screen is far more professional looking and with vastly more visual info in satellite mode than the built-in or even TomTom can offer. It's just way better.

Having said that, if they are going to give me free map updates for the next 7 years, then why not?

This is the speed of the drive that I used...

image.thumb.png.9c7e93d0abf681aa2f09594b06a019f5.png  = 970 Megabits/sec

...but then I found out that the supposed all singing & dancing USB A 3.2 to USB C 3.2 adaptor actually wasn't!! There's a certain 5 pins missing from the A side socket!!

Still... (through the convertor!)

CrystalDiskMark_20240927182929.thumb.png.f5853996cc1d8c3d0548f25a4497e627.png  = 315 Megabits/sec

...even with those kind of speeds, it should not have taken 29 minutes!!

Sillly question why wouldn’t that load as an OTA update for the smart plus system?

Not a silly question at all and I am going to try and find out when I get to see my dealer's "expert" next week...
