Here in Wales we have a default 20mph. RSA is not a problem at normal speeds but at 20 in stop/ start traffic through towns it is constant noise distraction. Even with hearing aids out it is very annoying.  It can be set to visual only, or off, but  it's a long way through the menues and has to set every time you power up. This is not a safety feature it is an annoying  distraction.

has anyone found a Fix?

I Is there an ODB port for Clarista?  Somone maybe in another country must have invented  a kill switch for annoying features.

Love the BZ most of the aids are great   but All the Bell's and Whistles should be for the better.

I have RSA on my display, but i've never had it make a sound, I didn't realise that was an options - so I guess what I'm saying is that there must be a way of turning of the sounds as I've never heard them.

I've just checked my settings & they are set to 'Only Visual'

Out of [not so] idle curiosity, when was your car built and when was it registered?

And do you have these settings established in your specific profile or is that the default for any guest driver?

My 2020 RAV4 works in the same way - visual but not audio warnings. Most folk would be 'happy' with that setting, but many seem to find that the system reverts back to Visual & Audio each time the car is switched on.

registered April 2023 Bz4X Vision AWD. I'm not sure it was part of the profile settings, just the car system settings. I think this was the default when I got the car as I don't ever remember changing it. If you have a RAV4 maybe its different.

Oh, yes ... the RAV is older and has a different, earlier, version of the Toyota Safety Sense system so it is rather different ...

Mine Sept 24 new,  reverts to Audio and visual every time its switched on.  This is mandatory now. Make sure they do not update software to comply.

All the test drives I took were either in 23 models or in England (my dealer is on the border). Not a problem.

If it was earlier in the menue it would not be so bad.  We are not in the EU and 20 mph is not a democratic choice in Wales. It software that makes hardware happen so Toyota UK could fix this. Exprience of the past 30 years of Toyota says they won't.

Any body got a kill switch ?

It's all pretty confusing but as I understand:

  • Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) became mandatory for all new models produced after July 2022. Since the bZ4X (and RAV 4.5) were introduced before then the mandatory ISA requirement did not immediately apply.
  • ISA became mandatory for all new cars sold after July 2024 (and had to be 'retrofitted' to any new car than did not already comply). The Toyota implementation appears to be to revert to 'ISA enabled' with 'Audio and Visual' alerts every time the car is switched on.

As I understand, the UK follows EU legislation in respect of cars so that's what we've got ...

I can verify that. 2023 Aygo cross test model you could switch it off and it stays off. My new 2024 Aygo Cross will always revert to fully on every time you switch the car off and on.

I got used to quickly flicking through and switching it off. Mainly only annoying in 20 limits.

You can switch off the change in speed limit reminder, but thats all.

So the customer  is always wrong. That's not a democracy its a dictatorship. Unfortunately Toyota are not alone I tried several EVs and Hybrids and was warned this was not optional but three were simple to switch, although Honda warned there could be insurance implications if it was switched off. This is not a safety enhancement.

I think that you will find that a lot of it is also harmonised at UN level ... https://unece.org/transport/vehicle-regulations

You’re lucky. Mine bongs at me multiple times a day because of the daft placement of the driver face detector that gets blocked by the steering wheel. It’s an extremely tedious alert that does more harm than good, as my brain just switches off now each time it happens.
