Hi.

I have a new Yaris cross design on order.

Since the facelift the design trim no longer has front footwell lights fitted, and it would be nice to have them.

Does anyone know if it is possible/easy to fit them.   The dealer says not but I'm unconvinced.  The car must share a wiring loom with the next trim up, so the connector may already be there.

On my Yaris Design, the connectors were there already. The led fittings can be bought on Aliexpress for a few £££. You will need two each side. I swapped the white LED'S on my new Yaris Cross for blue with another member on here.

be careful with the Aliexpress lamps as there are some with non-standard plugs - oem ones are £17 ea, 5 across the dash, 2 in the door handles (if wired) to check for wiring drop the passenger side trim down on the left towards the front you should see 2 plugs tied up to the loom

I was sick of blue, so I went with the white

I, too, expected footwell lights in my new Design and only found they had been removed from the spec when I complained they didn’t work 🙄

I find the interior of the car with its black headlining to be a very dreary place at night, especially compared with my previous cheerfully illuminated cars. I do wonder if the lack of lighting has anything to do with the 12 volt Battery issues discussed on this forum 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hi

But the excel trim still has them, so maybe not due to Battery issues?

Do we know if the wiring is still there?  Is it just a matter of plugging the lights in?

It is a case of having a look, my 22-plate Excel didn't have them but the wiring was there, the same on my 2016 mk3 wiring but no lamps

the Yaris cross specs do vary compared to the Yaris

Not there on my wifes 2024 Yaris Cross, bit disappointing that tbh. You can see where they are meant to go.  I did retro fit them with OEM parts to our 2018 Yaris Hybrid. A bit dissappointing how they work though. The 2018 one only seem to come on when you open the doors.

My Focus, they come on when the outside light level drops wether you are driving or not.

They do like to tuck the wiring/plugs up out of the way

Don't suppose anyone has a drawing of where the original ambient lights could be fitted to a 2018 Yaris. I have done the footwell ones.

it's just the 2 in the footwells on the Mk3

I can't understand why you would want to look at your feet, I don't need to see mine and I know where the pedals are.😁

I've bought some off Ali Express for our 2024 Yaris Cross, the passenger side has been done without a problem as the plastic where these are fitted to just pulls down. I got there in the end with the driver side, I just wasn't looking properly.

They cost me £8.94 delivered for 8 of them, bargain.

I can't see any cables for either of the door handles and the centre one by the USB port, I'm not going to even attempt that one as it looks a nightmare to get at.

Wish I had bought white ones now though instead of blue ones.

I originated this thread back in sept.   I have the car now, and have fitted footwell lights to it.

It was ridiculously easy. 2 per side as has been stated.  The panel under the dash just clips out on the passenger side, the wiring is fastened easily within view and it all just clips in.   On the drivers side 2 screws need undoing to remove the panel, and then it unclips.  Then it's just as easy.

I chose blue lights and am happy with how they look.   But they are so cheap in AliExpress that I may get a back up set in another colour.

So thanks for all your help.
