Latest multimedia muting or not

Quick question on the latest multimedia (2024 10.5”) it doesn’t mute when other things are going on.
Example listening to the radio whilst navigating, I’m used to systems that mute the radio when you get say a navigation direction or at least turn down the radio a bit so you can hear the directions, no mine just talks over the top… same with phone calls or reading out text messages.

is there a setting I’m not using I can’t find one though?

No mine doesn’t mute either and I’ve not found a way of stopping it. 
It’s annoying when I’m listening to an audio book using Apple car play and the sat nav in the background, that’s not navigating anywhere suddenly starts talking over the top with warnings about queuing traffic on a road that I’m not even travelling on.

I’ve literally had the radio on, received WhatsApp message and had traffic information all at the same time… all talking over each other….

On ours, the volume of whatever we are listening to gets reduced slightly while nav instructions are being read out.

Playing with satnav, I found how to change background colour of the map (changed to a sand colour, but can no longer find where that was!).  During the play-about there were sliders to adjust Nav volume independently of the master volume knob.  Pretty sure it was the setting icon on the satnav screen and/or the three dots.....

Sorry I can't be more specific, there are so many screens and settings I can't remember where they all are and as to going through 300 pages of the damned multimedia user manual........
