Hello friends, regarding the headlights on the 2020 -23 CHR, I've seen all trim levels are LED, but what is the difference between the trim levels headlights performance? Specification says Icon has LED reflector headlights  and Excel has LED adaptive front light system. Is the Excel's much  brighter? Throws more light onto the road? Thanks for any info, Mark

Hi,
yes the led in projector lights like the one in question are significantly more powerful and with greater light field ahead and on the sides in comparison to led in reflectors which are better than halogen bulbs lights but not as good as led projector.

No - LED headlights are LED headlights. On the Icon and Design grades they simply come on automatically when it gets dark.

The 'adaptive' term is used differently by various manufacturers, but in the case of the C-HR it simply means that they have the automatic high beam / dip feature - which is great but doesn't give you any more light!

The adaptive LED headlights fitted on the later Excel plus GR Sport have dipped beams that move up / down & left / right depending on the steering angle & suspension ride height. They do a little calibration dance when you first switch the vehicle on when its dark.

Both headlight beams can move independently from each other.

The automatic high beam feature is totally separate & can be switched off using the dash switch.

Popped in to the shop on the way to work & part of the car park was dark so managed to get a quick video to show the adaptive lighting start up calibration dance.

The headlight calibration dance fascinates me every time I start the car at night
