Radio question

I have just purchased my 3 year old Yaris Cross Hybrid (Nov 2021) which has the newer 'smart connect' multimedia system, so no dials with this one. I think its been asked before on other sites but can you actually turn the radio off, or is it only possible to turn the volume down to mute? If you can, please let me know how top do it. Thanks!

it should have buttons on the LH side, press and hold the Home button for 2 seconds it should mute the audio and turn off the screen, if you hold it for 6-10 seconds it will restart the unit

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it and the media centre did restart but the radio was still on.

It is more of a hold for 2-3 seconds then release

Update to question. Just to clarify, I contacted the main dealer I purchased from and they confirmed you cannot turn the radio itself off. You can only mute it by turning the volume down.

Holding down the mode button for a couple of seconds also mutes it.

Correct, it can't be turned off, but your dealer is wrong, it can be muted as I stated above, it's even in the manual on page 5

Even if you have a version with knobs, it only controls the audio volume, the system stays live.

Must be a few different versions between the various models.

On mine, there are two words printed above the LH knob: 'POWER' & 'VOLUME.'

Rotating adjusts the volume, depressing turns it off.

My previous Corolla was a 2022 with the smart connect (8" screen, live Nav, no side buttons and one knob).

If I pressed it to turn it off, the Nav or Apple CarPlay stayed active, just muted.

Both our current cars (YC GR Sport 130 hp 24 my and a 24 my Aygo X Exclusive) have the 10.5" smart connect with Nav and the single knob (now bottom centre) do the same.
