Ceramic Spray

My Fav 4 (71 plate) came with the Toyota Protect ceramic coating. I am not sure how long it lasts but I do remember being told not to add anything onto it and have been careful with the Snow Foam I use etc.

With the wife getting her CHR and me looking after it... I wondered if I could use it on my Rav or would it not be recommended....

Hi Craig,Ceramic coatings, like the one on your car, bond strongly with the paint and can last a long time if you look after them. The advice to avoid using other products, like waxes, is probably to make sure the coating isn’t affected or to avoid anything that might interfere with its water-repellent and protective properties.

If Toyota suggested not to apply anything over the top, it’s likely due to concerns about chemical compatibility or reducing the coating’s performance. They probably recommend sticking to mild, pH-neutral shampoos like the Snow Foam you’re already using to help preserve it.😄

I put this on mine when I got it superb drop of stuff and after I wash it I give it a quick spray with the spray form to top it up .

Yeah it does say not to apply polish or wax to it... Just not sure how much its working 3 and half years in but will leave it for now!  Just miss that.... shine !

afaik Toyota ProTect is guaranteed for 5 years (subject to the usual caveats)

Yeah I just remembered the original shampoo that came with Rav4 car as did a great job onto the car after ceramic coat... I will get more!

What do you put on the plastics. Wife's new car has that back plastic two tone trim round roof!

Mine has the two tone with black roof and gloss black plastic at top of rear window, I use the same stuff on them , on the black mat plastic i.e. mudflaps, bottom of mirrors , trim around wiper arms I use the meguairs plastic gel which works well too.

Brilliant.  Will put on alloys as well. 

How often do you use the wax (vs spray top up) 

You use anything in particular on your real window like thar rainx or whatever its called. 

I also have the glass roof with it too so will just need to be careful applying

I applied the liquid wax by hand to my wheels when I got it and after I wash it I spray a microfibre cloth with the spray and wipe on the wheels and buff off, don’t spray directly onto the wheels as may go on your disc’s ! Haven’t put anything onto the glass other than normal glass polish .

I waxed it last September when I got it and done it again last month , then generally spray wax it after I wash it as you can do the whole car less than 10-15 mins , panel at a time. Water just runs off it’s good stuff.

Perfect.  I shall use my Toyota ceramic shampoo wash in-between, get that liquid wax on it and earliest opportunity and top up with the spray.

You can do bit fiddly, I put it on all the other gloss black parts no problem at all .
