No air circulation from heater matrix

Recommended Posts

Air circulation from vents has been intermittent as of late. Recently stopped altogether.

Changed the Heater Blower Resistor. Still the same.

Any ideas as to next steps.

Well, if it wasn't the heater blower resistor then it will probably be the motor itself.

In fact, the point that it works intermittently points more towards the motor than resistor.

Normally, you'll want to verify it is the motor before making such call.  HOWEVER, by the time you reach the motor, you might want to throw a new one in anyway.  (The motor is located between the centre panel and the steering wheel.  To reach it, you'll need to remove the top section of the entire dash).

Thanks for the response. That was going to be my next port of call. I believe from viewing tutorials, the clutch pedal will need to be removed?

Yes, partially removed.

(In order to make room, top of the Clutch peddle assembly removed from the studs and clutch cable push out of the firewall.)

Just to clarify:

When blower resistor gone bad, blower tends to lose the middle settings.  For example, the blower refuse to blow on setting 1, 2 and 3 but fully functional at 4.

When the blower gone bad, it works intermittently.  Or start / stop when the car goes over bump. On blower that is more easily accessible, hit the blower with a mallet will usually wakes the blower motor up.
