P0093 code

Hello all

Driving my 08 d4d diesel 2.0 corolla to appt today and had to brake sharply as oncoming car had cut the corner.

The car didn't stall but when  I went to move off I'd no revs, car was ticking over but wouldn't accelerate. I turned it off and on again and it drove fine though engine management light was on.

After appt started car and engine management light was off. Drove it to my mechanic who checked code which showed codeP0093, major fuel leak. He checked engine oil. All fuel lines front to back and all fine. Drove 30 miles since and all fine.

Anyone any ideas, dodgy sensor etc. Mechanic said to keep check on oil but he tested it and said no diesel was present. He mentioned fuel pressure sensor. Anyone experienced this before?

The code does indicate a major fuel leak, but it can sometimes show up even if there’s not an actual leak. Your sudden braking might have just disrupted the fuel flow for a moment. Your mechanic mentioned the fuel pressure sensor, which could be the culprit. If that sensor is faulty, it can give the wrong readings and affect how the engine performs.

While there are other issues that could cause this, your car has been running fine since then, and the engine light is off, so it might just have been a one off. Just keep an eye on how it’s running and check the oil for any signs of diesel. If it happens again, it would be a good idea to have the fuel pressure sensor checked out.👍

Thanks bper. Just hope it's a one off.

Didn't have a code but years ago I stalled quite heavily (not an Auto) and my engine management light came on for a short time. Explanation was that my stalling caused some fuel anomaly which then cleared naturally.
