Hello,

I need to change Battery in my Toyota Auris 1.2 Turbo. It has Start / Stop system. I already found Battery (VARTA A8 (D52) Silver Dynamic AGM Autobatterie 12V 60Ah). But I don't know how to reset Start Stop system. Is it any kind of guide or manual?

Bets Regards

What do you mean by reset the stop start system...? :confused1:

If you mean it's not working because the Battery is low, changing the Battery should fix it. It's not a BMW, you don't need to plug in a diagnostic tool to reset things after a Battery change!

The system will just decide when to work or not.

TBH if the only reason you're changing the battery is the stop-start system, it's really not worth the money - The battery will cost much more than you'd save on fuel.

And stop start is very annoying thing. I don’t know why is still available in new cars.

After disconnecting the car battary, it usually takes a few trips before the stop/start system kicks back in on my car (still on factory Battery, 9 years on).

I think it needs to monitor the average Battery voltage for a fixed period before kicking in.

On my auto petrol cvt, i find it really handy, as i just pop it into neutral and engine cuts out (no need to keep brake hard depressed), use handbrake or light braking to keep ot off, then pop auto selector back into drive and car engine starts and pulls off.

Like others said, there is no reset procedure as such.

Apparently, car needs to be off for more than 6 seconds for you to save any fuel. Any shorter period, actually costs you more in fuel due to richer start mixture, than a leaner idle. Its a bit of a game to see if you can predict the 6 second stationary scenario when you come to a stop. I light brake if i think not.

Hi!

No, I do not actually care about start / stop feature itself. I just need to change Battery because when I start car it looks like Battery can not provide required current anymore. When I push "start" button, interior light dim for a while and motor starts after a while with strange sound. But when motor works, all fine.

The problem is that I read a lot about this start / stop system that it requires special "setup", probably with OBD2 tool or whatever, otherwise Battery can be damaged.

I don’t think this applies to Toyota cars. I had changed both batteries, 12v and the hybrid Battery and both were plug and play, no additional set ups were needed.
