Buying a YC - How to tell if it's a upgraded 2024 model?

Hello,

We're looking to buy a used YC. I've learnt that there was an upgrade this year to do with additional sound proofing and the like however, how can you know if a car has that?

For instance we're eying this Design 24 plate here, reg in March 2024:

I'm also somewhat confused because the multimedia display in this one only has four buttons on the side, whereas other ones we test drove had buttons on both sides of the screen. Is this one worse in some way?

Sorry for all the questions, but thank you for any insights!

24 model year Yaris Cross went in to production in APRIL 2024 so obviously this one isn't the upgraded version.

If your looking at Design spec on 24 MY look for a vehicle fitted with the optional safety pack as this brings things like parking sensors, blind spot monitor plus electric folding mirrors ( & a few other useful features )

If your not in a rush to change then an Excel has a lot more standard equipment then a Design & worth seeking out if budget allows.

Have a read here

I would guess this was a late MY23 being march registration.

Hi,

this might be older model on 24 plates.
Design specs has no exterior changes but you can easily differentiate between looking into dashboard instruments. On latest models these are fully digital, one large screen where older models were small screens and physical hand ( pointer) for the speed and power meter.
New and then old

Thank you. That's really helpful.

I'd say - check the USB socket 🙂 if it's USB-C (small, rounded) then it's the newer model. If it's old USB-A (big, rectangle), that's the older one.

And also decide if you want a 2024 car with the RSA that you have to turn off every time you start the car.

As the song goes...she drives me crazy.

I am only making the OP aware so he can make his own mind up.

From previous threads on this forum and others that i am on it does divide opinion.

Indeed but it's a bit of a "chicken and egg" situation isn't it? How will he know if he hasn't actually experienced it? 😉

I usually have "grumpy old man" syndrome with such matters but personally, I find it to be "liveable with" at a push...

That's what test drives are for 🙂

This confused me:

Granted it is an Icon, but it has the 2024 stereo, but the indented air vents. Along with the twin USB-C sockets and the digital dial.

Very odd

Why odd? With the 2024 facelifting they put the 9" multimedia (or more precisely, 9" Toyota Touch® 3 multimedia system with Smartphone integration incl Apple CarPlay & Android Auto™) in Icon trim only. Higher trims get 10.5" (with or without navigation)
