Why so many owners on used C-HR?

As the title suggest, I had been looking for a few and noticed that the cars are only 2-3 years old and they have like 3-4 owners?

Are these a sign of a problematic car?

Any thoughts?

There are a few compromises you need to know about with being a C-HR owner.

Remember it's NOT designed as a family or luggage haulage vehicle & this catches lots of people out as they buy the wrong vehicle for there requirements then regret it not long afterwards.

If your single or a couple, rarely need to use the back seats for transporting people & are ok with the available luggage space then give one a long test drive.

First gen C-HR was a niche product on its own in the market place.

C-HR = Coupé - High Rider, it's not a lifted up family hatchback.

FWIW if we go away or somewhere like IKEA we will take the missus Yaris Cross as the luggage carrying capacity is larger then my C-HR 👍

@forkingabout thanks for your comments. It does make sense.

Regarding to my situation, yes I am aware that it is not as spacious as most family car. This will be used as my work car. I will be keeping my Verso as family car.

@Perfection - If it helps, I am now on my second C-HR. I started with a pre-owned 2020 Dynamic and have since upgraded to a GR Sport, which I purchased new in April 2023. It is the only car where I have bought the same model twice. Both were the 2.0 litre models, as in my humble opinion, I found the 1.8 a bit underpowered.

I only upgrade because I received an offer, from my Dealer, that I couldn't refuse.

It's only the wife and myself, so the C-HR suits us perfectly. When we do need to carry adult passengers in the rear, I have had no complaints. If you are using it as a work car, you should have no problems.

Have the ones you have seen been the 1.8 version, or the 2.0 version. That 200cc makes the world of difference (in my opinion). This may explain the 3-4 owners in 2-3 years.

I can't comment on the 1.8 as I hadn't tested this version as I am not intended. I am more focused on the 2.0 as it uses the  NiMH Battery

It rather depends on the MY. The 2.0 was introduced with a NiMH battery; later and current ones are Lithium-ion - but that really shouldn't be of any concern to the driver / owner.

My wife's 2021 2.0 is now three and a half years old - one 'careful' lady owner ... and it's not going to get another owner any time soon.

It's not a problematic car, but possibly one that folk buy with their hearts rather than their heads - and some buyers then find the need for a more practical family hatchback instead?

When i was looking last year for a 2.0 GR Sport 22/23 plate i found the opposite to yourself, most of the one's i looked at on the Toyota website or autotrader were mainly 1 or 2 owner cars and i hardly saw any that had 3 or 4 owners.

I didn't buy one because the Corolla suited my needs better.
