I go in for my first service next week, do any of you guy's know if they do software updates as a norm and do they remove the wheels for inspection or just shine a torch in and do a visual?

Also if any one knows if there is anything else I should be asking for?

They do not normally remove the wheels at the first service. Only if they spot anything unusual in the visual inspection. You need to ask them about software updates.

Hi Graham,Toyota usually includes software updates during routine services, especially for the infotainment system or any of the car's electronics. It’s definitely worth asking if they will check for updates when you take it in. They typically do a visual inspection of the wheels and brakes and probably won’t take the wheels off unless they notice something wrong, but they will use a light to check for brake wear or any other issues. If you’re concerned, just ask if they’ll be checking things like the brake pads and discs, even though it’s early on. Also, confirm if they will top up all the fluids oil, coolant, brake fluid, etc.

Toyota usually recommends rotating the tyres for even wear, so you might want to check if that’s included. It could also be worth asking if they will check the Battery health, just in case. They will probably handle most of this anyway, but it doesn’t hurt to ask, and it will give you peace of mind.😀

Updates and recall work are done at each service.  The wheels were left on for my first service and on my second service the other day they removed all 4 wheels.  As mentioned by others, when booking your car in ask those questions directly and also double check that they are going to do them when you drop your car off.  And check the paperwork on collection shows that they have done the work.

Toyota don't service their cars - franchised dealers /service agents do, in accordance with Toyota checklists. You can view the checklist for your upcoming service via the service booking tool.

The first service is an intermediate service, the second a full service and so on - there's rather more included on the checklist for a full service.

As you might expect, the standard of customer service varies between dealerships, but they should all cover all the items on the checklist. For anything else, you'll need to ask! 😉

I reckon 99.9% of us realise that the work is only done by franchised dealers or/and authorised service centres and Toyota is just used as a common term. The booking tool is on the Toyota .gr site but doesn't function but thanks anyway.

I will take from the general info from some of you guy's that they don't remove the wheels on the first service.

Can I ask what is the consensus that you would expect is a good mileage/kms or period for rotating the wheels as I only envisage annual services?

I will also make sure all updates have been done before I take the car away and can someone please tell me the version of the map update.

I don't bother to rotate the wheels at all. I'm happy to leave well alone and replace tyres in pairs as and when required. It's not an item on the service schedule and I can't be bothered to ask or pay! 😉

If you wish to rotate tyres, I suggest that you do so annually.

(I have the earlier system so can't help with map updates but believe that the latest based map for your system is Spring 2024.)

I rotated about 20,000 miles of tyre wear. In my case due to punctures needing new tyres and changing to all seasons before the OEM tyres were worn, I cannot relate it directly to vehicle mileage. I tow with mine so keen to even out wear.

The car has just been in for its first service. Here they do remove the road wheels so I asked them to swap fronts to rears.

The full 12month/15000km cost me 229.14€ which is circa 192 GBP so I don't know how this equates to UK or any other country for price, personally I was well pleased.

Apparently there is an upgrade to be done to the engine ECU software which is having to be done at another date because they were having a glitch with the wifi.

That's surprisingly good value these days.

Sorry Nick, no more info as yet but I'm sure you'll be fine with yours being so new.

I have scanned the web pages with no luck on the software upgrade but I can't see it to be that important but it's definitely not the infotainment upgrade. The service reception manager's technical english isn't very good but better than my Greek🤭
