Bye-bye Prius - but how?

My brother in law has asked me to dispose of his L/H-drive Prius, which is in Reading. He drove it there from Europe two years ago wanting to register it for the UK but never got round to it. It was a perfectly good runner on arrival, but has not been driven since. It is parked on private property, uninsured and not SORN as it is not registered here. Manufactured 2010, trim L/LE/XLE/LTD, BHP 98 (if VIN decode is correct). Any suggestions how to dispose of it? Who might be interested? Ideally we would want something for it unless that's impossible. PS: I personally know nothing about Priuses, so assume I'm a numpty. PPS: thanks in advance.

Try eBay.

Someone who lives in the UK, but has family in Europe might like to export it.

That's assuming the Prius can be coaxed back to life. I have no idea of its condition. And then there's the lack of paperwork (disorganised b-i-l...).

Hi,

You can sell it here or any other places like Facebook or eBay but you need to post some pictures of the car exterior, interior, engine bay, boot, then description of condition, history. Someone will be interested. But if you have absolutely no papers then the car can only go for scrap, free or for very little money. You need to understand that this car not used for two years will require at least a new set of batteries at a cost of over £2000, plus service, new tyres and possibly more things. Add that it is very old and it has no value in it at all.
Try to find some paperwork of ownership etc.

Hm, thanks for that reality check. Sounds like disposing of it for parts/scrap is the easiest option all round, as I really don't have the time or interest. I will indeed look for the paperwork and take some pics, but in the meantime if anyone knows of a parts dealer in the Reading area..... 🤗

Be prepared for the fact that the scrappie may well want to see papers for the car. They need to be able to trace the source of cars they dismantle. In which case, call around. Not all are as fastidious and may just take it off your hands. It would probably be a good idea to let the authorities in the country the cars is registered in that it is scrapped.

More wise words - thank you. I'll get to grips with the Pesky Prius as soon as I'm back in the country.
