Hi, Hope you all well.

I recently purchased a 2022 Yaris Hybrid for my wife. I noticed that the “low fuel” light does not turn on even when the dashboard shows only 20 miles left. (it shows around 440 miles when the tank is full)

Is this normal, or should we be more cautious when the fuel is low? Could there be a fault?

When does the amber/red light typically activate in a Yaris?

Thanks a lot.

5.4 L left when the light comes on, don't worry, it should come on very soon.

Just been through this with my new YC. Light came on with 21 miles left, read it should be 5.4 ltrs at that point but when I brimmed the tank it only took just under 29 ltrs, ergo over 7 ltrs left….
I suspect the 5.4 ltrs is when it has 0 miles left…

The range is given to 'reserve' level. The warning should appear near the reserve level.

If reserve gives another 50 miles or so then 20 miles above that means you could get from anywhere in England to the coast before running out. There's probably a petrol station somewhere en route.

If you look in the index of the full owners manual for 'warning lights' and then 'low fuel light', that should show you what the reserve is.

5.4 litres is just under 1.2 gallons, 20 miles when the light comes on? Does seem a little inaccurate somewhere 🤣 Old fashioned me still work on miles per gallon lol

Yep, about 90 miles to be running on fumes from when light first comes on.

however I’ll stick to the 0 miles left on the range and know I have to get fuel sooner rather than later…

With 0 miles left I put 29.09 liters of fuel into the car.
