I've not found a post that covers tips that might be useful for a 2024 C-HR.

We are currently waiting for ours as the wife is getting it through NHS Fleet Solutions. We felt it was time to pass on our IQ to something newer.

Do you have any tips?

Ignore your dealer who tells you not to apply the auto handbrake and apply it (pull up the parking manual button until it auto applies) then every time you apply P the handbrake will go on and when you go to Drive it will go off.

Check your tyre pressure in settings when first get car.

It was meant to be 33. Mine were 39/38/35/33.  I simple dropped them to 34 each then went into tyre settings and changed it to flag mine to be under 33 alert.

Again this is relevant to your tyre on car but easy to identify Psi from passenger door label to tyre

Get them to activate windows opening closing via fob.

Currently have a Yaris mk4, fab car, though in 1-2 year will need a bigger boot. Can get a 1.8 icon Chr for £25k via a job/work related scheme, design probably cost £3.5k more. So are really considering this option. Also hopefully carista will have the permanent option to put the speed beeps into visual warning only!

The window opening/closing with the fob is not enabled as default?

I've seen the carista ODB on Amazon discounted down to 44£ even though i have various odb2 devices. I guess its best to have it for the items that can be changed?

I checked to see if they have an option for speed warnings, nothing so far 😞

Thanks, I do see from the manual, it mentions the Brake Hold system. Do you recommend using the automatic parking break when stationary in traffic, e.g. at lights? Or just use Hold for those circumstances?

Windows via fob isn't by default.

A member has email carista to look into programming speed limit for off/visual permanently, they are looking into it.

I have access to Techstream (same as the dealers use) and there isn’t a way to turn off any of the annoying stuff - it needs done manually every time you start it.

As others have said - have your dealer enable the global window open/close.  Also, our Design version has 2 buttons on the tailgate, one is used to close it.  Have your dealer enable the 2nd button, it closes the boot then locks the car as you walk away.

Exactly the same with Toyota forklifts, the legally required safety systems for EU market we cannot disable even with the official diagnostic software - manufacturers locked the ability out.

Brake hold is good if want the electronic brake on rather than sitting with foot on brake.  I've used it stuck in a jam once. Never since but would again if needed.

I switch this on every time after start up and wish it would activate by default like with my last VW 👍

What model are you getting? If you’re getting a version with the 12inch combimeter dash display be prepared to spend a few hours sat in the car with the ignition on figuring out the multitude of settings and customisation available. Some stuff is not intuitive at first but after a while becomes second nature. You will also have to get used to a lot of bongs & bings , some of which you can’t get rid of.

We're getting the design model.  I think we can live with the bings and bongs, the sat nav in the IQ does exactly the same thing so we'll soon tune it out..hopefully 🤣

The most irritating bing/bong noise in the Design CHR PHEV is the road sign recognition facility which relentlessly chucks out  warning noises at all times and when you are listening to music. You can drown the noise out by whacking up the volume but who would want to do that ?  You can disable this feature for your journey  but you  have to remember to do this  every time  you have turned off the car "ignition". This is somewhat irritating but worth the brief effort in disabling this annoying car feature.

I can get a new Chr 1.8 for a very good price but hate these bongs on the new 2024 cars. Had an Aygo X for a day and hated the speed beeps. Will wait and see whether the likes of carista can programme this in the future.

Mojo1010 nope its not going to happen and you can thank the EEC for shoving it down our throats even though we are not members. I guess Toyota dont want to spend the dosh just building special vehicles just for UK citizens.

From what I’ve read the EU is the worlds third largest car market and because the outgoing Conservatives government didn’t mandate so called ‘life saving technologies’ as the EU have, some organisations are saying we are falling behind in ‘global best practice’.

According to figures, 60% of UK car manufacturing is sold in the EU and various transport/road safety groups are advising the UK to fully adopt the regulations.

It seems inevitable that the ‘Global Safety Regulations’ will be adopted here and  there may well be more of these safety features implemented as the industry moves towards fully autonomous/self driving cars. Give it a few years and once the infrastructure is in place to monitor and restrict car use, it will surely happen.

Enjoy your driving while you can 🤷‍♂️

Nel no more beeping/bonging ever apart from some smells but then we will be in the  open air.  I have just ordered 40 x bales of hay rented a barn and am waiting for my steed which is a  Percheron  my selection  being  based on the fact as they have more HP (body  muscle to you) than a Clydesdale but have not decided on my make of cart. y KR  Carts have a good selection wish me luck with the muck raker and spade selection or should i just get a strap on bag for my trusty steed ?

Agree, have you been able to get rid of any bings? The boot one I find really annoying but can't see anyway to turn off.

Not really but TBH I’ve just got used to them and the speed warnings do help to keep things legal 👍😊 The reversing brake assist can sometimes be pretty abrupt if it detects overgrown bushes from our neighbours garden who we share a drive with. 😳

I agree the speed warning bongs aren’t THAT bad in the grand scheme of things. They’re actually pretty quiet, and at my current age I’m going a bit deaf 😂. Problem solved!

Assume my new car is typical but when exceeding the speed limit you only get two (or three) bongs and then it gives up until the limit changes again. Is that right?

Or until it picks up the 5mph speed limit for the building site you’re passing etc

Normal mode vs Eco makes the car run smoother.  Different from my Rav4 where Eco seemed easier on he car.

You can reduce the sound of the boot (3 levels) but still you cannot disable it.
