How about having a second immobilizer installed? Surely the car is not made of gold, and I can't see they will load it up a trailer.

I am looking into that at the moment..

Do people know if the 12V Battery is disconnected, could they still able to start the car?

If the 12 volt Battery is disconnected they wont be able to access or start the vehicle.

If the vehicle is a keeper then an alarm / immobiliser upgrade is a much better solution, send me a PM if you want the details.

It's the best solution...a tracker will not stop it being stolen and they will have already caused thousands of pounds worth of damage before even driving it away and most car thieves will know were the tracker is as Toyota probably fit them in the same place in each model.

I have owned high performance car for most of my life and have never bothered with a tracker...if it's stolen i don't want it back.

An immobilizer is the way forward (Ghost or similar)

An alarm & immobiliser is a better way forward as it should persuade the thieves to bugger off when the warn away or full alarm sounds as they attempt to gain access.

I am with you on this. That's why I said in my above post, I am two minded if I want to fit a tracking device or not, if it's stolen, I don't want it back.

I am out of touch with the car alarm system for a number of years now. In the 90's I used to install Gemini. Any one dare to recommend a brand here?

Also I am not sure if my car has an alarm as factory fitted or not. But adding a second one is the best solution

Not sure I'd want the car back either, depending on how much damaged was done trying to get in and trying to start it, back in the days when I had a Cavalier SRI (red and anthracite) I knew every time I left it, it would be broken into, scum bags, the door lock would be stoved in but they couldn't get it. I had three switches on the dash which had to be in the right position(combination) to start and one hidden, it saved the car from being stolen but I got fed up with having to get the door repaired and repainted each time. I once parked it with no cars anywhere near it and went into M/land at the retail park, I'd only just got through the door when the alarm went off, thinking it was a malfunctioning alarm( I'd fitted a sparkrite alarm) off I went and found a car next to mine, the only seat in this car was the drivers and his car wouldn't start, there were bodies flying from all over the car park suddenly appeared, shoved him off and they all jumped in and shot off. PC plod didn't want to know the reg number of his car as I hadn't seen him break in, there wasn't another car with in 100yds and being as my alarm had only just gone off, who else could it be. Well being a bit miffed I told plod if he had still been under my dash when I had got there, I would have kicked my drivers door shut as hard as I could and broke his legs to which the very nice policeman told me he would have arrested me, what's this Country coming to.
