I know, but close enough for a quick check.
If I was seriously trying to understand it, I’d fit a visible voltmeter you could view without waking up the car.

A bluetooth Battery monitor should do the job.

A BM6 bluetooth Battery monitor would meet that requirement

I like the idea if one of those.

I run a campervan too for which I use bluetooth monitoring of both the Van (engine) Battery and LifePo habitation batteries.

Me getting mixed up. It's those in front brake testing you I was thinking about.

I drive for a living and every day i see impatient drivers driving far too close to the car Infront leave plenty of room and break checking will be a thing of the past.

If you have to have a camera in the front can you not turn it off to stop it draining the Battery when you are not in the car?

Yes but parking mode is useful in case anyone damages the vehicle whist parked

Agree with above, but you cannot blame Toyota for the depletion of the Battery due to using parking mode.

Unless you have a diesel Battery it's definitely a good idea to get an intermediate Dashcam power bank to run it when the car's off!

The trick is finding one that can charge and supply power at the same time...!

I can blame the dealer who fitted it if they did not connect to a switched supply.  The Dashcam should run off its internal Battery in parking mode.

Some will, although those internal batteries often don't last long! If yours is a dealer-fit Nextbase it'll almost certainly have a lithium Battery though.

Wouldn't work with mine, as it uses capacitors, so needs a constant power feed even in in parking mode.

Those internal Battery doesn't last very long, hence draining the 12v Battery. Need a power pack for these parking mode, they cost a fair bit.

I think I'll just make sure it's on a switched supply and if the internal Battery runs out so be it. Priority needs to be protection of the car Battery

It does have a lithium Battery in it

Seems like it has cropped up before.  Will get dealer to ensure it is switched.

It is currently connected to the fuse box under the glove box so presumably it is just a case of connecting to a different connector in the fuse box if it is not currently switched.

Look, the main Dashcam contenders are not stupid.  Their dashcams have built in Battery safe options, so it never kills the car BatteryNextbase are one such company.  So no one should be looking at blaming anyone with a PROPER Dashcam that this is causing a Battery issue.

Toyota are the culprits, no one else !!

Taking it down to 11.6v is probably more than our feeble batteries can cope with though.  They don't have much left to start the hybrid system.
