I noted from the changes blurb they enhanced the adaptive high beam assist for the 2024 models. See blurb list of new features.

reading the handbook, it seems to be a simplified matrix assist type system, see description below.

however when driving at night last week for hours, whilst I noted the automatic high beam switch on and off I didn’t note that it was behaving as a matrix type detailed above.

this got me wondering, to enable these features it is only available to the dealer menu to toggle on and off, see handbook again,

I think I’ll have a chat to see if they’ve overlooked enabling this feature in their PDI checks as it’s a new feature….

Do you know that for definite?

Why not it’s in the blurb they sell them in the uk with?

One way of confirming, if you have manual headlight levelling (control by right knee) you have automatic highbeam.  If there is no adjuster there, you have adaptive lights.

From the UK brochure:  All models except Icon have LED projector lights, not matrix.

That’s disappointing, do any models have it?

A quick scan shows the Corolla Excel should have got it in the MY23 update, did that not happen either.

its a bit like my YC PE should have the digital key too, but it doesn’t, can’t help but think the advertising and reality for Toyota are out of sync, because everything I’ve quoted has been from official Toyota UK press releases….

As said, My 7 year old Kodiaq had it before trade in, just like puddle lights, 11 interior lights etc… even my previous MY13 Merc and MY15 Touareg had more features back then, can’t but help think I might have bought the wrong car for the right reasons.. I.e. best hybrid system but well behind every other marque in all areas associated with the driver and passenger comfort and convenience….

Ok, as stated earlier the Corolla Excel did get it in 23 and the Toyota UK press releases said the top spec MY24 YC would get it, but it didn’t!

see Corolla Excel blurb straight off the T-UK site..

well I would not trust press releases as they always generally say something in the small print about this might change upon release or might not be in your market. I have got stung with that and Reno many moons ago. The press release said one thing and the brochure and car did not tally up once the car was released.

I'm not sure about this.  Down by the drivers right knee there's a switch with an 'A' in a circle on it.  According to the handbook the purpose of this switch is to enable the adaptive high beam.  If the car hasn't got it what is the switch for?

Or am I missing something?

Likely for the automatic high beam function.

All that switch does is set the headlights to automatically dip when they sense a car coming the other way. It does work, but I prefer to dip them the old fashioned way.

I must admit I was very disappointed to find that my wife's Premiere doesn't have adaptive beams. It's like the eighth wonder of the world on my car!

I was hoping to have them on my own YC Premiere, but just have the switch instead. To be fair I haven't tried the headlights yet 'cos I haven't driven anywhere away from streetlights at night yet but typically I've been disappointed with LED headlights due to their very sharp cutoff limiting visibility on dipped beams.

Missus has a 24 MY Yaris Cross Excel & the LED headlights are very good both on dipped & main beam.
