Hello estima users. Is that consumption normal or way over average? I have 2013 AHR20 Estima Hybrid.  Any comments/suggestions from owners on here I would be truly grateful.  Thank you in advance for your answers.

The Estimas are not known for their good mpg, even the hybrid isn't much better than the normal 2.4 or even the V6 3L!

Apparently 7km/L is roughly 20mpg which is at the low-end of what I'd expect for the Estima, but if it's doing mostly urban/stop-start traffic driving that sounds about right.

On a motorway run they can allegedly get close to 40mpg, but that's about the max they can possibly get to without resorting to 'Heroic Measures'

To be fair it's essentially a big luxurious minibus with a petrol engine, so good mpg isn't something you could reasonably expect from it

The intention of the hybrid version of the Estima was to lower emissions rather than improve economy.

Spot on! It's a shame as it could really have helped with urban use, but the electric motor and Battery just don't have the oomph to be useful so the engine runs practically all the time...

Thank you for your comments.

I did my math in L/100km, MPG.....and those numbers scared me a little....i though that it is not possible and must be sth wrong with the car....I  called the dealer but the only math here 😉 is miles per tank ...so i need few days more....it doesn't look good imo and i don't like that ''which is at the low-end of what I'd expect for the Estima'' 😉... according to the dealer's presentation 😉

thanks all

7.1 x 4.54 = 32.2 mpg

You can see my figures for the non hybrid on the thread under this one.

Running in choke on start up on a cold morning it takes about 10 minutes to get to 5 km/ litr (5 miles if your vehicle has been converted to mph.  It starts off at 1km/litr 😮  after longer runs it builds up as I said on the other thread. I use the bus for short journeys now I have any almost free bus pass.

32.2 mpg looks 'normal', checking other similar threads, the problem is I am not really sure if that 7.1km/L shows converted readings. Seller (well known at auto trader uk) wasn't very convincing about it. Speedometer is converted but average consumption, trip and reception/remaining distance- 'according to' technician shows km. That what the seller said. When I wrote: 7.1km x 4.54L=32.2kmpg 32.2/1,6=20mpg...he said 'I don't know those calculations'....and advised me to refuel completely and to check how many miles I will do.....that  isn't very pro  approach to the client imo....I don't known what to think about it and what can I do with that. Car is on 2 years warranty from seller. Any suggestions will be  more than appreciated.

Why did you buy the Estima? What are your priorities with the vehicle?

If you wanted a big luxobarge, that is the best choice.

If mpg matters to you a lot, nothing can touch the Mk4 Yaris hybrid.

The only thing that kinda straddles both would be a diesel Verso, but none of those are ULEZ compliant and will probably get increasingly milked for various clean air charges.

Also what's the 4.54 figure? :confused1:

1 uk gallon = 4,54L ? correct me if i'm wrong but looks good to me as far as i know.... why did i buy it? - like the size, i (we) do lots of travelling around uk...mostly summer  time , love the shape of it? Few years ago i saw it for the first time and i knew it will be my next car....

...and i don't ask for anything special but the average....

Oh I see, I got confused because wrote 7.1x4.54=32mpg which doesn't make sense because 7.1km/L does not = 32mpg, but they meant 32km/gal!

I think if you're travelling around in summer the mpg should pick up - It's big and heavy so stop-start traffic really hurts its mpg, but a smooth motorway cruise will bring it back up.

It's never going to have great mpg, but if you're not using it as a daily driver then just enjoy how luxurious it is and don't worry about it!

No they meant 32mpg. 7.1km on a miles converted vehicle its now 7.1 miles. Calculation checked by total journey and fuel required to re fill in my case.

Hopefully this can end all speculation going forward.

Oh you mean it's 7.1 *miles* per litre, not km?

I missed where they said it was converted to miles. Usually that only affects the speedo, but I don't know if it was done with computer coding, an overlay, some widget between the wheel sensor and the ECU or what...

But if that's the case and it's 32mpg, that's pretty average for an Estima.

Seems to be the case as Km's are roughly 2/3rds of miles I would notice when re filling.

Where did you get those figures from?

Today going down the M20 at about 50mph the dash boards showed 9.5m/litre!!! Actually got a high as 9.7 far a short while. Coming home up the M20 it averaged 8.5 as there are a few uphill sections.

hi thanks for your reply

I got this message after scanning the car, for the mileage never been below 11 on the dashboard

That's what I thought (the dashboard) 11/liter is excellent. 100km is not shown on the dashboard?? Confused

Hi JohnG

full tank of petrol do 300 klm I think it's too much

I regularly travel a journey of 400km and that uses about 2/3rds of the tank driving sensibly. If I push it down the motorway I can use the whole tank.
