I am considering buying a new TLC LC3 D4D Auto to replace my 1986 3.0TD GX Auto, which gives me on average 20mpg. I never thought this was a high mpg but have put this down to the way my wife (ok, and me!) drive it on short journeys etc.

Can anyone with a new D4D auto give me an accurate idea of MPG on mixed driving. I never trust the figures in brochures and normally asssume that the lowest mpg is about the best you get.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Tbone,

Just acquired a new LC3 5 door 3.0 D-4D Automatic at the beginning of this month - have only done about 700 miles so it's not really run-in yet, but the consumption is looking good at about 28-30mpg. With 2-up on mainly countryside back roads, a bit of off-road (green laning) and a small percentage of city traffic. That will soon drop when I start towing! I'm fairly light on the pedal and still finding my way round it, but it's rather tempting with all that power lurking under the bonnet, so at present I'm having to restrain myself whilst running it in!

Hi Microscopia,

Thanks for your reply. 28-30mpg is brilliant for a vehicle this size and much better than what I am getting on my old 1998 3.0td gx.

I test drove a new LC4 (all they had available) the other day and loved it, I just winced at the changeover price of £20k Ouch! However that mpg does swing it back into my good books.

Must find a richer wife eh!

Thanks.
