Took a road trip yesterday and took the roof bars off that I had on the car 90% of the ownership of the car. There’s no going back now. Corolla felt like an S classe. Super quiet.
I do need to be able to carry a bike though and the best option is towbar with the bike carrier behind the car.

I  do however like the feature where you open your boot by swinging your foot under the rear bumper. I think I’ve seen someone mention somewhere that this functionality is lost with towbar installation. Is this true?

Usually, yes. But, there are ways to install it and retain the kick sensor loop.

You can keep the kick function (at least with the official Toyota tow bar) - I have it on a 2023 TS. The installer needs to know it can be done as it does require the kick sensor frame to be adapted - the official Toyota installation instructions explain how.
