At risk of causing similar disagreements to my commentary on EVs and hydrogen, I think the RSA implementation on the 2024 GRS PHEV (and I assume the rest of the 2024 RAV range) is very good. 😂

I was initially horrified that it was permanently defaulting to ON. Legal requirement. But here's the thing...

1. The GRS speedo on mine is only 5 percent over reality. It was much greater on the last RAV. 76mph meant 70mph real.

2. The 2024 RSA solution is better than former generations but still gets it wrong. Just less often than my last one.

3. The beeps are relatively quiet and barely audible when I'm listening to music or the radio at my normal volume levels.

4. The beeps stop after a few seconds, the flashing speed sign symbol stops a few seconds after that. It doesn't keep beeping and flashing.

5. You can switch it all off at any time with about 4 button presses.

Done a lot of driving recently and I now just leave it on. It's fine. Still gets it wrong but it doesn't matter. And is, most of the time, a useful reminder if I've crept over the speed limit. I think it adds value and Toyota's implementation is actually good.

At risk of causing further controversy, I like the LTA system too. It has been improved from my 2021 RAV PHEV. Used it on the last trip on motorway, A roads, and some B roads. Never had to override it. Although I did not use it on some B roads in anticipation it may go wrong. It's on the default settings for sensitivity as I've never meddled with it, no need, unlike the last car where I had to set sensitivity to low because of the ping pong. It is still slightly near side biased which I don't like, but not as much as the 2021 car I had. But it acquires and re-acquires the road markings pretty much immediately.

I like LTA and adaptive cruise a lot.  Allows me to have a short power nap when misses is banging on about the latest episode of bake off.

That gives me some hope that they are listening to feedback - I'm glad Toyota are keeping up with the 'continuous improvement' mantra. It's just a shame they can't give us with the earlier "beta-tester" versions firmware updates to make ours suck less!!
