Picked up my brand new , 2 year old (yes it was new as had 20 miles on the clock) used Corolla Van last week. So far very impressed with the load lugger ! as its a great CAR ! in reality.

I know some may say that this post should be in the "commercial" section but as its heavily based on the car I thought i would post here.

I have a small business and need to transport light loads and long rolls of fabrics so this vehicle ticked a lot of boxes, only thing I dont like about it is that I can operate the rear windows as they seams to have been "disconnected" as this is part of the spec. Have noticed that the back can get very hot so would like to have the option to open these especially when transporting the canine employees.

Well done. Good choice indeed.
These cars make a lot of sense for many commercial use like in your case.
About the rear windows, it might be a possibility to make them work but you need to look further into it. Meanwhile your best bet and something that you should always do is to keep your AC on all the times and preferably set in auto mode the auto climate control. If you need any adjustment as additional heat or cooling, just adjust the temperature settings even by as little as 1C° up or down and the car hvac system will respond and change the microclimate in the cabin.
Highly recommended to use these settings above as cool and fresh cabin air is important for you and for the hybrid Battery which get cooled by the cabin air. 👌

Probably the most comfortable variant manufactured, thanks to the steel wheels and bigger tyre walls. 🙂

Autocar magazine had one in long term test recently and were very impressed. As stated above the small wheel size gives the best ride of all Corolla variants.

it's a requirement to be classified as a van rather than a car.

Interesting, I think I may have solved the windows quiz ?? after taking a look inside the panel and finding it all intact ! that led me to look at one thing and found two things missing ! how simples...  IM NOLONGER CONfused about this.

Thanks for info on AC, Battery is encased but the guys in Burniston have developed a good ventilation.

You know what, that was probably the first thing i noticed on the long drive home from the dealership, The speed bumps driving out of London didnt exist..  My other car is a subaru forester and has big chuncky wheels too, but previous cars had "silly" thin wheels and expensive alloys ! never never again.... high sports spec equally back ache to me, lol

nope, there 195/65/R15,   hence my joy at a profile of 65 !   im getting old and the simple thing in life bring me more joy.

Not checked yet but also think it doesnt have TPM on the tyres, this make swapping to steels and winter tyres easier too.

I would have thought that it did, certainly for cars it became mandatory ~2012.

Yep and buses trailers trucks etc since 2022 EU. I really don't get it!!! How ever did anyone manage to hold a license before these monitoring systems existed? 🙄

Is the use of sensors inside the tyre mandatory, or just to have TPMS? Indirect TPMS doesn't need pressure sensors and works rather well, IME. The tyre doesn't need to be flat to get detected, that's for sure.

afaik it is just TPMS, the exact method is not specified but I am not an expert.

OK, I just wondered if that might be one way of manufacturing a vehicle without tyre sensors and still complying with legislation.

I set my old BMW up to use indirect TPMS so that I could cheap out on buying another set of sensors for the winter wheels.  I still had to reset the system after each swap, because it could tell the difference between sets, even without any pressure sensors.
