Hi all,

Just picked up my new car today. Verso 2015 1.6 petrol.

I inherited this car getting rid of a Ford S-Max which I honestly loved and was feature rich however this car was newer and free in perfect condition low mileage so kinda had to swap over.

The only problem is this is a base model so lacking a few features that I am used to having....however.....there a buttons there for the features and when you press the buttons the touchscreen display registers the button push and says this feature isn't available so I am wondering if these are just software locked and if anything can be done?

The two features are

- voice command

- maps/navigation.

Anyone know?

Also while I'm here there doesn't appear to be any sound tweak settings. I am quite the bass lover and normally up the bass a little. Am I missing something?

Are there any updates I can do myself to the incase infotainment system? I work in IT so I'm ok following instructions and doing updates myself but is it possible and can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks I'm advance!

Hi & welcome,

I suspect that your car has the original Touch or perhaps Touch 2 system (can you post a photo or give a model no?). Iirc this is a modular system & the nav is a separate box so you could probably add that relatively cheaply if you can find one on eBay etc. However, it's an old system, map updates will stop at some point in the next few years etc. so you may want to consider biting the bullet & upgrading to a modern 3rd party unit (possibly using Car Play/Android Auto for nav?).

I don't think that you will get the voice command working & tbh I had it on a 2012MY Avensis & didn't use it ...

I can't remember about the audio controls for Touch but Toyota usually does have some so it's a case of finding where in that system they are. If it's a Touch 2 that is what my current car has (albeit with Go nav) so should be able to help (off the top of my head try under Setup>Audio).

Do you have the full manuals for your car? They should be available for free on https://www.toyota.co.uk/customer/manuals

Thanks.

I have attached a photo of system info screen. Even if keeping it as would be nice to update it to the latest version as needing in IT it's a core instruction to keep systems up to date 🤣

I do have some manuals with it but haven't gone through it all yet.

To be honest I am thinking of building my own Crankshaft-NG raspberry pi system as it will do more for me and be cheaper as I already have some of the parts and saves faffing around replacing the head unit and ensuring everything is going to work

I would like android auto but my wife doesn't want me spending much on a new head unit. Have you got a link to the correct replacement head unit for the verso with android auto?

I don't have a link to a "correct" replacement head unit with android auto but this should give you an idea of what's available (you could do it even cheaper buying something direct from China but good luck with any future support) https://www.halfords.com/technology/car-audio/android-auto/

I imagine that it's probably a double DIN unit & you may need a trim panel e.g. https://connects2.com/Product/ProductItem/CT23TY22

Thank you for the help. I ended up going to Halfords and buying this with fitting: Pioneer SPH-DA77DAB | Halfords UK as it was on a good black Friday deal. Get it fitted in 2 weeks time can't wait!
