Toyota Granvia 1995

I have a 1995 Toyota Granvia campervan, (am I in the right place for help ?) It has failed it's mot 🥵 because of "corroded and seriously weakened nearside suspension arm attachment bracket/mounting". (To be fair there is a gash about 5inches x 2 inches in the bracket see attached image).

 I know little about cars and vans.

Can it be fixed ? Would it be too expensive for a nearly 30 year old van? What's it worth for scrap? Who would want it? (The mechanic says scrap it).

Any answers, advice or opinions gratefully received.
