Hello guys,

I am a little bit at the verge of insanity...

I had enorm problem with shaky engine and that was quickly solved by replacing faulty engine mounts. Before changing them everything was "Perfect" besides dancing engine. After replacing engine mounts and gearbox mount I went for a test drive... Then problems eldorado just begon... When at low speed (low speed accelerating) my Aygo started Shaking (chasis) but on higher speed and on neutral problem was gone.

I checked every possibility and replaced both axels (complete) with new CV joints, seals etc - both just shiny new. Stabilizer and whole breaks set was trash so i replaced that too.

Anyway, Shaking problem is still there, it is not that bad as it was before mainterance but still i can notice it.

Ou before that i had problem with missfire and new sparks and coils were installed too. No faults for now...

Any ideas what is going on? 🙂

Are tyres wearing evenly ? especially fronts ?

Have you tried swapping front wheels for rears ?

Could be tracking, wheel alignment, , wheel balancing, deformed tyre(s), wheel bearing(s)

How long you had it, anything non standard ?

This problem started directly after engine and gearbox mounts replacement.

I don't believe that the problem lays on tyres, then it would be noticeable on whole speed spectrum to some point. Bearing also seems fine, nothing strange when turning wheels. It seems like there was some kind of problem with gearbox/flywheel or somethingng but loosy engine mounts worked "good" with that issue but after making engine/gearbox stiff again the whole problem came from under the water.

Can you do a sound recording or video ?

Other than that, maybe check over your coils & plugs over with related wiring

And or give more symptoms when this happens, revs, speed, gear etc

Does it go away with rpm, it may have been unnoticeable with bad engine mounts

check the rubber mounts on the exhaust hangers - bad rubbers or the exhaust may have come detached from when the engine was flopping about

Another suggestion, check your crank pulley. Tight, not wobbling or coming apart etc

Did you use original engine and transmission mounts or aftermarket and of aftermarket what brand ?

Solved.

Aftermarket mounts seems to be too stiff... I tried my best to "copy" position of old engine mounts but nothing really worked. I touched mounts while engine was running and somebody else tried to rev up. It was quite obvious which mount was responsible for shaking so i decided to put old one. Result? Waaaay less shaking. I was still like "ooook its better but damn fu... Still not what's i wanted" so i decided to change all 3 to old ones... Aaaaaand its Perfect...

I think that those engines are yea not the best balanced and only OEM mounts would work. (Or great quality aftermarket). I tried to make the engine more stiff but apparently those have to dance a little bit. Too stiff = not gut.

That is one thing with the 3-cylinders; They need either balancer shafts or hydraulically damped mounts otherwise the vibrations can get quite obnoxious

Exactly, with the out of phase nature of 3 cylinders expect Toyota etc invested a lot in making sure noise/vibrations damped accordingly, where as 3rd party part is just any old rubber compound will do.

there is some real junk parts coming out of china - Blueprint are usually good quality

the lower dog bone is the main one that fails first

I do wonder if I can retrofit the hydraulically damped Lexus mount into my Yaris... :g:
