Hi all, newish owner of a Corolla 2003 hatchback.

Last night collant started pouring out from underneath the dash into the passenger seat footwell. I traced the leak back to the Heater Matrix/ Heater core (Don't know the exact terminology) under the center console. It seems to be the actual block under the dash that is leaking and not any of the pipes or connectors. I was quoted 3k for a repair at the local Toyota shop. Is there any chance I can replace this part myself? I have minor mechincal knoledge and im generally good on the spanners.

And what is the name of the part im looking for? Im keen to go to the local wreckers and find one.

Thanks in Advance.

The part you need is called Heater Matrix . It sits under the dash near the centre consel.  You would need to get hold of a haynes manual to help you in removing it. But its a nightmare job as some garages will quote you for taking the dash out. look at You Tube to see if anyone has done one.  It can be bypassed in the engine bay 2 hoses going througth the bulkhead, but with no heater thats a no no in winter.  If you are good with the spanners its a good few hours to replace, But buy a new one not from a wreckers yard as it would be probaly no good.
