Got an Aygo MK2 with 50k miles (2014) a couple months ago. Just invested into a carplay unit and noticed I do not have a reverse camera. Googling it basically suggested to me that every 2014+ Aygo would, but clearly not. There would also not be a need I guess given the car came without any touch screen to show the reverse camera, and instead the original non-screen radio.

How hard would the install of one be and is it worth the hassle? I learned in a 2019 Aygo with a reverse camera and did find that the feature would be useful in my own car after passing.

Also the car did not come with DAB radio but I couldnt give a !Removed! because I just use bluetooth.

I learnt to drive without one, and drove for quite a while before getting one, so I tend to rely on my mirrors more (stick on blind spots are really useful) you can get aftermarket reverse cameras, and I admit I use mine now as a last resort if I can't see fully.

Depends which grade Aygo you have. The X and X-Play didn't come with a reverse camera when new.

I learnt to drive with only the windscreen-mounted rear-view mirror so I don't tend to make use of the reversing camera at all but I know many people who love them. As mentioned, it all depends on the spec of the car, I'm sure it can be retrofitted, just a question of effort and the right parts.

It's handy to have. It's not as essential in the Aygo as it is in newer cars, where rear visibility is more compromised though.

My easy solution to no DAB was to use a pocket Roberts radio and use the jack socket - it worked well

I recently purchased a 2016 Aygo for my mum, she'd an older one and the 2016 one balanges age for dings with newness for comfort and a better driving expereince. It had no Reverse Camera, but I bought a 2 button OEM head unit for 70 squid, and a reversing camera from a wrecked 2019 Aygo for 100 squid. I've seen the OEM cameras sell for as low as 60, and as high as 200, crazy people gouging selling for 200.

When I removed the original head unit, basic model, there is a lead already there for the reverse camera, taped away neatly, but you can see it when you remove the original stereo, and there are a few video's on Youtube that show how easy the head unit swap is. It's a doddle. I bought the reverse camera, but for the life of me I can't find where it mounts to. I have searched the internet high and low, so decided to join here, and I will make a video of how to install it and post the link here when it's done.

I don't know if it is allowed here, but here is a link to that camera for 60 quid. Unfortunately, I found it after I'd bought mine, and it's the cheapest I've seen. I like to install OEM stuff when it's possible. https://mkautobreakers.co.uk/product/toyota-aygo-rear-view-camera-867900h011-genuine-2019/?srsltid=AfmBOoptkAkoJu1ICSt6U2sp2POyaBNUCyh8mNXvkXKHDu0-OPUgCyCG

I will be posting in the forum, asking for pics of the position of the rear view camera.

Yes, it might be a little more expensive to install the OEM camera, and head unit, than a bog cheap unit, but not by much, if at all. You can buy the carplay version of the OEM head unit for about 350, that's the cheapest I've seen it in the UK.  I think when it comes down to it, the plug and play ease of the OEM install is what makes it the choice for me. Coupled with a Brodit Phone mount, I'll be happy with the setup when I am using my mums Aygo. I will post a link to the OEM Camera install when I find out where it needs to be stuck. The wiring will already be there for it, if the wiring was there for the Head unit, I think.
