Leak in boot

Hi all,

Water is getting into my boot on the left hand side. I think somewhere around the shock shoulder. Is there any common issues I can look for or has anyone suggestions on how I can troubleshoot down the problem. There's a fair bit of water, soakes the padding underneath the carpet and flows down into the spare wheel well.

Thanks in advance,

J

Hi Jim,The tail light seals can wear out and let water in. Remove the tail lights, check the gaskets, and replace or seal them if they’re damaged.

Next, check the rubber around the boot lid seal. If it’s cracked or loose, water can get in, so consider replacing or use some weatherproof tape temporarily.Inspect around the shock mount for any rust, holes, or loose seams where water might enter, and use sealant to cover any gaps.

Also, check the vent flaps near the bumper if damaged, these can allow water to splash into the boot.

The rear windscreen is another area to inspect. If the seal around it is failing, water can leak down into the boot, so look for any gaps.

Finally, make sure the drain holes around the boot or spare wheel well aren’t blocked. Have someone sit in the boot while you pour water over these areas to spot any leaks.Hope this helps.👍

Fantastic, thank you. This gives me a good lot of go on.

Will report back once I figure it out.
