I've never had the pleasure alas - All the cars I've owned have had integrated units so you couldn't change the headunit even if you wanted to (Not without some major fettling anyway!)

I do feel that's a bit of a shame as I like the idea of picking my own infotainment system, but since half the car functions are controlled through them now, the age of the aftermarket radio is pretty much gone...

unless you consider CarPlay, AA with Apple music or spotify?

as a pre-amp the iPhone does a good job with the built in JBL Amp 🙂

I know I can always use a wired connection to run CarPlay, but I prefer a wireless set up and as it comes as part of the overall package - well it should just work!

Not had an issue with my sept24 YC so presume I’m already running latest SW. out of interest what SW version does your car now have ?

looked at the OP original post photos again and the answer for him is there, deselect the top 2 (phone and media) and select Carplay as the text clearly says it does the phone and media amongst others.

Does this new software keep the TPMS display on screen after a restart? Does it recognise which registered phone is in the car and load it's profile? If 2 registered phones are in the car, does it allow you to select which one you want it to use?

I have a Yaris MY24. Use Apple CarPlay. Everything ok until today when CarPlay loads contacts, music and phone works but it won’t load maps. I’ve tried all suggestions on the internet with regard to settings. I did forget and reconnected. I updated my phone to IOS 18.1 last night and suspect that is the problem. I have an iPhone 15. Think I will have to contact Apple or see if the dealer has any suggestions.

18.1 Should be ok it works fine in both Siri and AI modes. The bugs that were in 18.01 were fixed in 18.1 and were mostly related to the spoken content not the apps. I can confirm maps worked fine on 18 / 18.01 and 18.1 

i suspect the Toyota software integration TBH. i use a wired to wireless converter.

18.1 working fine for me. iPhone 15 pro

my Apple carplay connects every time but annoyingly sometimes it wont load it on the main screen or sometimes the annoying message from the car says I dont know who you are so accept the terms and conditions. but then car play connects in background. 

I think, but cant confirm its to do with the wifi because when I leave work it is flawless and shows on the screen everytime and I dont connect to wifi at work. When leaving home its a bit more hit and miss which I think it down to wifi connection not letting go or the iPhone taking a bit to long to connect to wifi on the car as its already connected to my home wifi.

The one way I could check I guess is remove my home wifi and see but I rely on that for calls as the mobile signal is junk in the village.

Thanks everyone. Took my car to the dealers today. Saw the salesman that sold me the car. His iPhone wouldn’t work either but maps will show up when connected by a cable. It’s booked in for an update next Wednesday.

the ios 18 update was one if the things I considered but my phone plays perfectly well with all other bluetooth devices. The problem started with previous (ios 17). The technicians at my dealer tried with various iphones and got same result.
The words “firmware update” were offered by the technicians at the dealership - who am I to argue? As I said, I’ll get back here next week with update. Wish me luck!

Apologies - I added a previous post whilst using phone. What I meant to add was photo showing the software info including the update added on Monday. Just to note that CarPlay is now working and consistently, even after the update to 18.1 on Monday evening (after Toyota updated my system). Will be keeping the wire handy just in case......

If you convert the heic to jpg it will display better. 
that aside i am becoming increasingly irritated by toyota tech. 
the problems you describe is something i have managed to avoid …

because … I do not rely on the increasingly unreliable toyota head unit integration to modern tech.

try a wired to wireless adapter like my carlinkkit 2air v5 and please do not take that as an advert / promotion / plug for , as i have been using this for some time on multiple vehicles (Toyota CHR and gen5 Prius/MG/Volvo) with zero issues iPhone Xr-16.

My carplay was working OK on iPhone 15 pro / 18.01 but stopped when I updated to 18.1

CarPlay defaulted to "off" in the radio settings; reset to "on" and now all OK.

I've now forced AI to install (set phone to US configuration) so will wait and see tomorrow if it's still working.

If you look at the first post in this thread you can see pictures of the settings you are looking for. Mine has reverted to off a couple of times. 
I’ve also forced the AI update and everything seems to work ok

Full AI install and connects with no issues.

Sometimes, if a connection fails, check and unlock the phone and try again.

Checked these settings yesterday. They are slightly different on the Yaris and realised I had already checked them and so did the dealer when I went in. The CarPlay is greyed out and won’t switch on. Hope it gets fixed on Wednesday. Thank you for your help.

Collected from the dealers yesterday. Had to do a reset. Spoke to the service manager and he said only error that came up was 200 and indicated I had used a non Apple cable! I said I had never used any cable and all mine were genuine Apple anyway. The first cable that had been plugged in was at the dealership when I took it in to see what was wrong. He thought it might just be a blip after I updated to 18.1. Felt like he was blaming me.

Sad you had that experience, but is it now working?

A lot of counterfeit Apple stuff out there, if bought online there is a chance its not a genuine item unfortunately.

Yes it’s working now thanks. The cable I use to charge the phone came with the phone bought at the Apple store.  I’m careful about cables in case of fires. I hadn’t used any cable at all before it stopped working so it couldn’t be a fault because of that. At least it’s working now and my car was washed and vacuumed 😀 don’t need to do that now.
