Yaris Cross with long list of electrical faults at start up

Recommended Posts

Posted

Out of the blue this list of electrical faults has appeared in our 2022 Yaris Cross which, until now, has had no faults.  I've yet to decide if it is safe to drive the car to the dealer - down a mountain road in Spain with more than 200 bends

Braking Power Low
ABS Malfunction
Pre-collision System Malfunction
Parking Brake Malfunction
AWD System Malfunction
Secondary Collision Brake System Malfunction
Drive¬Start Control Malfunction
LTA Unavailable

Watch this space.......I'm hoping that they will be able to source quickly whatever module it is that has failed.

I would second that. The 12v Battery voltage is low. There is a thread pinned to the start of the forum, if you want to read up on it and the many experiences.

The quick fix is to replace the Battery OR jump start the car and let it run for about 30 minutes (leave it in ready mode) to recharge BUT Battery may be at end of life.

It simply needs a new 12 volt Battery, sounds like the original one is about to reach end of it's useable life.

As others have pointer out, this will be a problem with your 12v auxiliary Battery.

Spend some time reading this thread here... (warning, it's very long!)

New Battery required, it's just the electronics freaking out due to low voltage

Yeah, if you run the car for a bit then restart it or put a jumpstarter on it to stop the voltage sagging too low when you start it, most if not all of the errors should go away.

It's likely just a symptom of a dying 12v Battery as all have said, as when all the computers and pumps power on at once, it can't quite handle the sudden current demand and that makes the voltage sag too low for them all to work properly (I think the threshold for most car electronics is 9v but don't quote me one that!), and they freak out a bit.

Thanks for the advice, but it turns out that it has nothing to do with the 12 volt Battery, but is instead a wiring fault.

ah the Battery terminal fault, that will do it

And what fault exactly and how did you fixed ?

I am told it was an open circuit connection to the ABS module, nothing to do with the 12volt Battery.
