2024 YC Sound deadening kit

Did I imaging it or was someone talking about sound deadening kit? If they were can they please let me have  the details

There was talk about it, very easy to diy - a sharp blade, a straight edge, foil tape and a seam roller

3 sheets per door and 2 sheets in the tailgate (maybe 3-4 on the grumpy)

I will say my YCPE is ‘ok’ at the front but you can certainly hear a lot of noise behind when on DC’s or on the motorway, so much so I have considered chopping the car and it less than 2 months old!

It is quite bizarre how much worse the sound insulation is in the 4th gen Yarisusuesieesuses compared to the Mk1, Mk2 and Mk3!

It's amazing on fresh new tarmac, but on old asphalt that's gone that grey colour and is noticeably rough because it's been worn down it's deafening!

Considered chopping for a CHR but that’s more style over substance with probably less room than in a YC and depressing in the rear and the boot is smaller due to sloping roof for the dog, although I do like the PHEV.

 Was really hoping they brought the Corolla cross into the UK, but not so far. I’ve recently looked at a HR-V too… I really don’t want to get the dodo mat out on the YC, still got plenty in the garage from my campervan though!

Might be better off consulting an vehicle audio specialist for a professional sound deadening install.

Could be a better idea then throwing loads of £ away chopping in a nearly new car.

I traded my Yaris Coss because of the horrendous road noise.

Bought a new VW tcross 1.5 r-line and on my monthly lunch appointment 60 mile each way journey up the M40 today there was absolutely no comparison in noise levels.

I didn't have to turn up the radio to 11 to hear it and instead of dreading the journey, I actually enjoyed it.

Shame because the YC was a good car except for the noise.

If i was 20 years younger I would have had a go with some sheets of dodomat.

I wonder whether it’s something all manufacturers are doing differently for ‘SUV’ shaped cars. I test drove both a Golf and a T-ROC (believe based on the Golf) before deciding on my CH-R.

Golf 1.5 - great to drive, peppy, smooth and very quiet and refined.

T-ROC 1.5 - slower, less comfortable, more expensive and so very NOISY!

Weird, and the difference was very noticeable driven back to back.

I discounted the Yaris Cross early on when compared with the CH-R. Again, CH-R very quiet, Yaris Cross much noisier (although I didn’t find it too terrible tbh).

@First_Toyota maybe its the suv shape that accentuates the noise level or frequency.

The YC is the first car i have ever owned where noise made me sell the car although a VW beetle came pretty close with "waff waff waff waff" on the back of my head.

Neighbours used to tell me they could  hear my Caterham from miles away but it never bothered me. 

Or maybe down to the individual. Lots of people on here don't find their YC noisy.

Ps just remembered being glad to get out of a Porshe carrera 4s....the noise gave me a headache.

Not sure if you have seen this video of soundproofing a YC which a forum member had done by John Kleis, Reading. 

Not a sound deadening kit but might give you some ideas if you havent already watched it.

@anchorman also posted some photos of sound deadening he had carried out......dodomat??

I don’t think it’s worth adding any extra sound insulation especially when the positive effects afterwards will be slim if any at all and all you will get is better door closing sound.
If you look at other makes and models which are benchmarks for road quietness and refinement like vw cars or even sisters Lexus, they have exactly the same mats placed at the same spots, any more than that it’s not necessary.

What they do have more than Toyota cars is thicker carpets, more soft materials under the door cards and all interior plastics, softer plastics and extra door seals made of different rubber.
The suspension set ups, types and execution are also vital for nvh levels. 

This is where you need to look at and do a proper research and eventually try to find out where exactly the noise comes from and how it enters the car, from where and try to find a solution. 
All these companies that offer sound proofing actually earn the biggest benefit- a good profit. If Toyota cars not good enough better buy another brand that suits your needs and personal preferences for driving experience and comfort.

It made a big difference to mine Tony and doing the doors also improves the door shut sound to more of a thud.  I suppose it’s for weight but Yaris panels are much tinier than your Auris.

I agreed, it will help a bit but to isolate the tyre noise might not be very much. 
I had Aygo X 24 recently, honestly this car door sounds like thin can , but when driving it no tyre noise, no engine, no exhaust, no wind , nothing, it was like a vw Passat . And only at 60mph slight wind whistle was coming from the seat belt area on b pillars. My Auris is different, very different indeed, and I noted that when had the Aygo X. - my favourite new Toyota now 😅 . Need to drive one here in uk to compare.
