No - not aware of any specific list for 2018.

However, new Type Approvals post March 2018 would obviously include the Corolla, Rav4, Yaris, Aygo X, C-HR (2024 on), etc.

I have e-call in a Mk4 2020 I glad to say it one system I have not needed to use but still a good thing to have as I can remember when radios were not fitted to all vehicles!.

Go back in history heaters were also a accessory for cars.

SOS button linked to eCall in overhead console - behind a protective flap.

Feb 2022 built UK spec C-HR.

Missus 24MY Yaris Cross has the SOS button in the same place so suspect that's where Toyota likes to fit them.

It's the same place in a 24 Aygo as well as my 23 Corolla, so probably easy for them to have similar parts/fitting between models.

I would say not worth paying for. Sure the remote start is handy in winter but many times it just wont work and gives you an error, so at times I end up just going out to a car that isnt defrosted. The software/tech they use is not good enough to pay for. If it worked 100% as it should all of the time then I would push it to a "maybe"

if you leave the car unlocked in a locked garage a modern car will go flat in a couple of days, whereas an old one can go 30/60 days no problem. Apparently the computers don’t shut down properly if the car isn’t locked. On an old car the alarm doesn’t arm if unlocked so it’s actually using less.

My '19 Corolla is left exactly like that and has been since I bought it. When I was still working it would sit unlocked for five days and I never had a problem with it. The last year it's used almost every other day (although after the heavy rain in early October it went three or four days without use) but is still doing just fine on the original Battery.

Nothing to pay !

Standard services free, expires on 30 oct 2034

Remote services, free, expires 30 oct 2028 (then presumably chargeable.

To settle this. Please could you list the uk cars that were type approved for ecall in 2018, thus having a mandatory fitting

it certainly is not in my 2022 Prius and it was not installed in the 2023 CHR courtesy car or the 2024 Prius I test drove last month.

My '19 Corolla has it - there was a recall shortly after I picked it up as it needed to have the SIM installed. If I remember correctly it's part of the map reading light assembly, next to the button that disables the alarm.

I assumed incorrectly you were asking if they were worth paying for so my apologies.

I still stand by my statement though 🙂

Mine had loads of issues and took multiple attempts to get it to start until I took it into the dealer, they did a reset of the system and now it works first time.

Perhaps there are configuration issues when it's set up.

I do appear to have lost some of the dashboard dial insert options now (no tyre pressures/etc listed as an option to get displayed ) but to get a working remote service I don't mind.

Just wondering how many of us would pay for seat belts if it was not made compulsory.

On the same note what about the automatic braking system it has not fully deployed just a add warning then it turns off when obstical is removed from line of sensors!.

E-call may just save a life just hope it not one of our club members or close frends.
