I bought a 2016 Aygo for my mum, and wanted to fit a reverse camera. The head unit fitted fine and there was an unconnected harness lead that (I believe) was for (and fits) the reverse camera when I installed the new head unit. I had read some posts, as many as I could, and figured the harness ready connector meant the Aygo must have been commonly pre-wired for a reverse camera, but as an option. I also figured that I'd find a plug for an OEM camera at the rear of the car. I purchased an OEM camera from a car wrecker, it came with the car side connector plug cut about 500mm long. I uninstalled the bumper and could see there was no connector for an OEM camera, so now I am going to try to wire from the OEM Head Unit connector, and to the OEM camera.

There are four shielded wires and one unshielded wire going to the Reverse camera, and all of them are covered with a grey sheath with foil shielding on the inside of it. Only the four shielded wires are connected to the camera, the unshielded wire, and grey sheath shielding terminate before the camera's car side connector. I have included images of the cut end of the wire that show the wires and shielding I've mentioned, and the 4 wires at the Camera connector side of the wiring.

On the camera side I have red, black green and white. It's no  problem to me to run them where they need to go, but I don't know where to connect them.

Flash22 told me the cable that I connected to my Aygo's head unit, the OEM one for the Aygo head unit, terminates in the footwell. I am hoping Flash22 or somebody else will let me know where that termination is?

Also, can anybody advise how to wire from the termination to wherever they should go?

I realise I might end up running more wire than necessary, but I'd like to use the Aygo's connectors and Toyota parts where possible, even if the wiring isn't standard. Any help with the wiring is very appreciated, and thanks Flash 22 for the heads up re the terminated Head Unit connector.

Flash 22, first, without grovelling, sorry for the mispost, but as a newbie I will gradually learn what's the preferred approach when it comes to post connected topics. I felt the camera location and OEM wiring were best posted as seperate topics, and would appreciate your opinion on how the posting works so as to be better at posting because I will do this install and video it and upload a YouTube video and then reference it at the end of this post, because it seems like what I am doing hasn't been tackled by another installer that has also posted here.

I have a question. I am not an auto electrician, but I've tackled a few jobs over the years and always figured things out with the help of patient people. My understanding of what you've posted is

Pin 3 on camera connector: black wire to Pin 2 on EK1 connector in the drivers footwell

Pin 2 on camera connector: white wire to pin 3 on EK1 connector ….

Pin 6 on camera connector: red wire to pin 1 on EK1…

Pin 5: green wire, goes to ground anywhere.

With regards to the shielding, from what the image seems to show, shielding is not important on the ground but is on the 3 wires running to the footwell. I've about 500mm of the OEM shielded sheath, enough to get me inside the boot, after that I'll need to wrap is in something, and tinfoil with electrical tape, or that aviation tape and then some form of shrink cover was what I was thinking of unless... there is something I can buy or get?

ALL advice is definitely appreciated. Thanks Again.

Green is a secondary ground

many ways you can cable it at all sorts of prices

The Aygo has four wires going to its camera, and those wires go to a connector in the front footwell. I am trying to find the insulated sheath, somewhere I could buy it if anybody knows?, Also from Flash22's answers I haven't been able to figure what I do with the stripped steel wire. I don't have the original (full length) of cable from the Yaris, and nothing in any of the answers speaks to this. Is it part of the shielding?

All answers are greatly appreciated?

use a 4 core shielded or a 2 pair shielded cable, it's difficult to post supplier due to your location

have a look for Guitar hook up cable or Belden 2 pair, you could even use a usb or 9DB serial cable and cut the plugs off

OK. I have narrowed down two 4core cable candidates and should get a good result. My first home made cable had interference, but I forgot to include the drain wire. I will be having a second go this week coming. The pin positions at the footwell were different for the white wire, it was at pin3 on the footwell connector, not pin6.

My Camera position is a bit off, but I am kind of OK with that for the moment. I'll source the proper cable and then re-do the install. I've attached images of the back of the EG1 connector showing the white wire in pin3. I've attached an image of the screen working, but it's not great at night.

When I've the new cable installed and the whole thing works properly, I'll make a PDF for it because that's what I use, I am not great with video.

Ah OK. That's great to know because I actually thought the camera must have been facing down too much, because of how it was capturing the number plate. As mentioned in the last message, the next step is buying the cable which will probably happen tomorrow, then once I get it I will redo the install, which is going to be heaps easier, all the hard lifting has been done, and I can use the existing cable that I built and installed as a snake to pull the next cable through. If only I could guess the lotto numbers, it'd be all grand then.  Thanks Bob for all the help.
