Has anyone fitted the FitcamX dash cam to their Corolla ?

My insurance wanted to know if we were fitting a dash cam, front or front & rear. We answered yes to front ( I'm  tempted to fit both ) So better get one now and not give the bu**ers any excuses. 😡
Looks straightforward? youtube full install here

Did anyone fit the front & rear cameras, if so if there sufficient cable for the rear  camera on the corolla touring.

Would appreciate your thoughts.

Tempted by it for the chr as it looks so good. Funny I queried it with insurance and they informed me it won't raise or reduce the policy price but I did have to inform them if I went ahead with one. But all tempted by the fitdvr too as it allows any Dashcam to then be run off the same power source at the mirror...I look forward to hearing what you think of the fitcamx though.

Did you order the polarising lens cover?

No I didn't, didn't know it had one available.

Promising so far as the sellers have emailed me (via Amazon) asking me to send photo's of the cover behind the rear view mirror so they can be sure I get the correct model. last thing I want to to send it back to China and wait weeks for a replacement. !

I've been looking at this. Buying it from their website seems a lot cheaper but comes with the risk of not being protected by Amazon's refund policy.

I might pull the trigger once you give your feedback.

Tim, I have been impressed with my dealings with this company so far. Because they do not mention the Corolla Touring ( just the sedan) I asked if there was sufficient cable for the rear camera. I also retro ordered the cpl filter and the communications with FitcamX have been 1st rate in both instances. Here's hoping the merchandise matches the service ☺️

I pulled the trigger and bought it along with the CPL filter too following some more digging. They also emailed to confirm the car model. I think the SD card it comes with is **** though so I'd recommend buying a SanDisk Max Endurance SD Card too and a mini SD card reader that connects to your phone for easy viewing of footage, I heard the app isn't the best.

Did you 'bite the bullet ' and by direct or use Amazon's safety blanket ?

For any who want to be more daring aliexpress seemed to have identical ones for chr for about a third of the price...not sure if it would be worth the gamble

Ok guys, for anyone interested in the FitcamX Dashcam. Mine arrived today (from China) I have the front & rear cameras.

Front camera is fitted. Pretty straightforward really, the most difficult part is refitting the replacement plastic cowl behind the rearview mirror. A few extra cables to tuck away. A bit of patience and trial and error and success. I managed to get my wifi talking to the app (Downloaded) and if I can do it at 77 you ' young bucks ' out there should have no problems.

I'm no expert on Dashcam quality but it looks fine to me. Here is a 1 min clip from today. https://badlywornroy.smugmug.com/Videos/n-nncg9/i-qKhqfDP/A

I haven't attempted the rear Dashcam yet, that may be a whole different challenge. No video's around to help with that install apparently.

If you have any questions I will do my best to help.

Looks good! Can you zoom in OK to read numberplates on the app? I know most dashcams can struggle a bit with this anyway when cars are going in opposite directions. Is that with the polarising filter or without? What's your own verdict are you pleased so far?

That was a short test drive today. My previous experience with dashcams is the combined speed of my car & the  approaching car is the  critical factor in reading number plates. Obvious I suppose. This being a 4k camera certainly  should help with fine detail. This was without a cpl filter, I ordered one as an afterthought and it is on  the  way. Pleased with  it so far ? well yes, but only got it today. 🤗

There are a few videos it help with the install of the FitcamX Dashcam. I found this one pretty good, showing install of Front & Rear cameras on a Toyota corolla.

And finally, I have installed the rear camera. Not difficult at all really. There is a real excess of cable when you reach the rear windown but it will all ' tuck away ' under the roof lining.  Here is a short 1 min video of the rear camera ' doing it's stuff ' A few reflections, cannot be helped. The rear camera is ' only ' 1080P

Mine is coming on Sunday, will give a review when I get round to installing it. Thx for the updates Roy.

Can confirm that it was pretty easy to install, maybe took me 10 minutes total. Putting the CPL filter on was a bit annoying as I couldn't align it properly with the lens so needed a couple of goes before it matched up exactly.

Only annoying detail is that I have to disconnect my wireless carplay dongle before I can connect to the dash cam.

My CPL filter hasn't arrived yet. I don't understand what you're saying about aligning the filter, guess I will when I get  it ?

The filter is larger than the camera lens and there's no outer ring to attach the filter on, so you have to eyeball it aligning.

Initially when I installed, it looked like this, with the CPL filter the outer ring and the camera lens the black circle. I had to then adjust the CPL filter to align it more in the middle. Other dashcams have rings that you place the filter in to allow easy alignment, this one doesn't.
