OK, ive got a problem.

Basicly my can sometimes smokes like a !Removed! when idleing. Doesnt do it all the time?! Strange.

Someone told me its the oil seals gone in the turbo but im not sure.... wouldnt it chuck oil out the exhaust or just burn it up?

Anyway... what are my options?

The smoke is white and smells like a burning smell and it seems to do it when the fan kicks in for some reason?

Any advice to see if my turbo is a gonner?

p.s still pulls 100% ok though :D :)

if oil seals in your turbo were gone it would be worse when you revved it.

when you rev it the hydrostatic pressure in the oil increases so it would spray some more oil out and would burn pretty quick. Having said that because more air comes out when you rev it, you may not see the smoke.

I would keep an eye on your oil level and make sure its not drinking it. also check the colour of your oil. if its going black quick then deffo oil damage.

how many miles has the car done?

have a nice day

Yeah ive kept an eye on the oil level, its not using any oil at all.

Just noticed today that the lambda sensor is loose :o

Gonna take it out and give it a good clean.

Another point to make is that its using loads of coolant, BUT i have a leak on the rad which im gonna try and sort today. If its still using coolant after that could it be the head gasket? No white crap on the oil cap or in the expansion tank though.

coolant,

check the drain plug on the block, I flushed ours out and when i put the plug back in it leaked, I had to take itout and wirebrush the threads. its more than likely its your radiator. if the leak near the top it will suck out of your expansion tank loads

turbo wise,

scooby owners usually say when it smokes its had it. i hope thats not in your case.

have a nice day

No leaks found in the rad... as far as we could see when runnin loads of water through it with a hose pipe.

So.... im thinking the head gasket is gonna go.... gonna check compresion tomorrow...

If you are using a hose, the water will not be anywhere near the pressure the radiator runs at so you won't be able to see a leak if its small.

i'd disconnect the vent hoses for the radiator top and bottom, bung them up and then open the drain ***** very slightly.
