Electric Aygo Seat Swap for older driver

Hi Folks,

I recently purchased a 2016 Aygo for my mum who's 86 and still drives, she's got siblings at 96 who still drive. The new Aygo replaced a 2007 one, and the purpose of buying a newer Aygo was comfort, safety, reliability, but also that the format of the car wasn't changing too much for her.  One issue she has is with adjusting the seat is the awkward position of the adjustment bar, and while she CAN reach it, it is a hardship I'd like to remove.

I was going to make a handle attachment that I can fit to the existing seat adjustment bar, that'd be more easily reachable. Imaging the handle being at the top of the seat cushion. There are some car models that I've driven that have a better placed seat adjustment lever. But I realise I could fit an electric car seat "if" I can find an Aygo that had one. Can anybody advise what models would have an electric seat? Even if the wiring isn't there for an electric seat in my mums car, I can/could wire it in.

ALL help and advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

There are no Aygo models that have electric seats, so I'm not sure if one could be fitted as an aftermarket option. I do understand her problem though as I struggle with adjusting the seat. Sometimes I do it on the outside of the car standing up because I can't reach forward when sitting down. Then I can adjust the height sometimes as I need to easily when sitting down.

The only cars with electric seats are the Corolla and the larger models on newer models

the biggest thing in newer cars is the srs and the way is integrated into the seats inc occupancy detection

Hi Wiz,

OK, thanks for that. This is only going to work if she can adjust the seat while she's sitting in it. I've looked at some mobility aids, but noting obvious jumped out, and I could fabricate something, which may be what finally happens, but I thought an electric seat would be a sweet mod for her to have. I'm going to keep pressing with that idea until I hit a compete wall on it, but thanks heaps for your reply.

I've had other Toyota models that didn't come with electric seats, and I was able to source seats from other models of Toyota that were electric and that I managed to get to fit. That electric seats didn't come in the Aygo, makes me wonder if they came in the Yaris, or the Corolla. From what you've said I'll have to start a the corolla. At least I can stop searching for Aygo OEM electric seats.
