Help required with Toyota Avensis

Hi,

 

I have a 2010 Toyota Avensis 2.0 D-4D that is working absolutely fine however a couple of warning lights have been appearing whenever the car is switched on:

 

1) Check parking brake system

2) Check VSC system

 

The car, including the electronic parking brake, is functioning without issue. However, the MOT is approaching and this needs to be repaired.

 

I have taken it to a couple of garages who have read the codes and tell me that there is an issue with the front near side parking sensor. They attempted to clear the codes however the issue still appears. They also said that the car is not able to recognise when the parking brake is on or off although they don't believe that replacing the sensor will resolve the "check parking brake system" warning.

 

Does anyone have any ideas?

how old is the 12V Battery?

The systems in a T27 are so interlinked that faults in apparently unconnected systems can bring on the parking brake/VSC warnings - it's effectively a master caution.

Low 12V & EGR issues have been known to bring them on.
