I have the Yaris Cross Design 24 plate and have just had my garage confirm that my car has a known issue for a dashboard rattle and they have to order a "sound mat" to put under dashboard.

I had them check out two other snags while in today a slightly protruding rear door and the rear seats headrest fittings that the headrests slot into - which seems raised above the fabric of the seat quite a lot.

They confirmed that the door is out of alignment and will fix that too but said they will do that when they get it back in for the dashboard rattle.

They said the headrest fixings are normal and are down to the rubber seat back protectors that I added in as an accessory when I bought the car - as apparently they press down on the fabric and give this effect - anyone else have this - I've added an image...... they appear to be higher than the seat fabric when looking from the front.

All seems to be securely fitted with maybe less than 1mm of play on one of them.

Firstly it's good that they have taken this seriously, but they have to book it in again once they know when they can get the sound mat and the door sorted - so another trip to the garage......

It is normal for the seat back protector's retaining strap to wrinkle like that and "pull" the material.  The straps are flimsy but you can adjust them to lie flatter.

Yeh but it seems to have pushed the seat fabric down to make the headrest holes look higher up at the front. Is that what you mean?

Yes. It is normal for an unmodified back protector. See the attached picture.

I just never got round to trimming the excess material to make the holes bigger and not foul the headrest retaining devices (?). I did alter the centre retaining strap by cutting slits on each retaining lug to allow me to slip them out from under the centre headrest and put the armrest down.

Good to know I'm not alone and that I've been told the correct thing by th dealer.

The fixing on the left does that have my play on it up and down (mine has probably maybe less than a mm but there is some.

I don't think it's going to affect anything at all, but after seeing the gap made by the protector, I'm a little paranoid.

No one really sits in the back anyway haha.
